Costa Mesa Sanitary District To Replace Fitzpatrick

FILLING FITZY'S VOID, SO TO SPEAK
The Board of Directors of the Costa Mesa Sanitary District met in a special meeting yesterday to define the process by which the vacancy created by the recent resignation of disgruntled Director Jim Fitzpatrick will be filled.  As a result, they issued a press release defining the process which can be read HERE.  Once at that page and you've read the press release, look just above the words "02-04-13 Press Release" for the words "Application - Board of Directors" and click there for the application and supplemental form required for the application process.

DEADLINE IS 2/15/13

The deadline for filing an application is Friday, February 15, 2013.  It's likely that the board will meet in another special meeting on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 to discuss the applicants who responded.  It is anticipated that applicant interviews and the appointment will occur on yet another special meeting on Friday, February 22, 2013 and the oath of office for the successful candidate will be administered at the Board's regular meeting on Wednesday, February 27, 2013.

SERVE UNTIL DECEMBER, 2014

I suspect there will be more than a few people interested in this position even though it's a short-term appointment.  This slot will be up for election in 2014, so the successful candidate will serve until December 2014.  Let the jockeying begin...

I'll give everyone on this blog $10 if they don't pick their buddy Arlene Schafer. Done deal. That demonstrates just how crooked these guys are.

I hope they don't go the same Crony old route that the City Council majority does in order to appoint their favorite friends to positions. It would be great if they would choose based on qualifications and good character.

Hey Mesa Athletics, what if Arlene Schafer is the most qualified?

Mesa, sorry to inform you but the whole reason about the Fitzpatrick thing was to appoint Arlene. 99 per cent there. can't stop us! Harper? lol, we want council to appoint next highest votes received candidate but that does not apply to us. Now we will have the same board from the 90's again! haha

Hey Jimmy Fitz, explain to me...
What is the difference between CMSD "hiring" Arlene and the City Councilboys "hiring" you? I wonder where you would be if you didn't have your buddies to take care of you right now. Hmmm, oh that's right, I guess you'd be an unemployed, unseated, ex Planning Commissioner huh? At least Arlene has 20 years of trash and sewer experience. That makes her very well qualified as a Director for CMSD. What the heck do you have? Let me help you...not so much.

"so what": the difference is that I kicked Arlene's ass in the election for the San District seat. she is unpopular with the voters. I have experience as a planning commissioner also, though not 20 years thank god. that would have me beholden to many lobbyists as arlene is. arlene is an unelected person, shown the door by the voters. it is an insult to bring her back just to CYA. 5 board members for 13 employees is over the top. watch their meeting on tape through cmtv. watch Ferryman do the invocation and laugh.

What rock did Don Harper crawl out from under? He was clearly Fitzy's patsy during the last election. He ran for the CMSD Board to unseat the incumbents (which would have been Fitzy's swan song...). Since he didn't get the votes, "The Good Guy Majority" appointed him to the Parks and Rec Commission.

Costa Mesa's motto should be changed from "City of the Arts" to "City of Cronies and Ass Kissers".
