Fairview Park Meeting Wednesday Night
HERE WE GO AGAIN...
Wednesday, February 5, 2014, the Costa Mesa Fairview Park Citizen's Advisory Committee meets again to continue to flesh out possible recommendations for future enhancements in that park - frequently described as the Jewel Of Costa Mesa. This meeting will take place at the Costa Mesa Neighborhood Community Center, 1845 Park Avenue (Lions Park). It will be held in the Victoria Room from 6 - 8 p.m.
PLENTY OF STUFF ON THE AGENDA
On the agenda, HERE, are several items that will be of interest to any residents concerned about Fairview Park's future.
NORTHWEST QUADRANT
Item 6a, under Old Business, there will be a presentation by the staff on the Northwest Quadrant, HERE.
SOUTHWEST QUADRANT
Item 7a is the Evaluation of Proposed Changes for the Southwest Quadrant - the current location of the Harbor Soaring Society venue, the controversial decomposed granite trails, the proposed Tot Lot and ill-fated parking/turnaround and where $650,000 for lights in this dawn-to-dusk park is proposed to be spent. That staff report is HERE.
COME LISTEN AND SPEAK...
I encourage anybody interested in the future of the park to attend and, if so moved, express your views to the committee as they go about trying to decide how to proceed.
NOT ON THE AGENDA, BUT...
We don't know if the recent abrupt departure of Recreation Manager, Bob Knapp, or Mayor Pro Tem Steve Mensinger's planned conversation with agents from the United States Department of Fish and Wildlife on the Decomposed Granite trail will come up. And, perhaps Public Services Director Ernesto Munoz will brief the committee and audience on the new city department that will fold in the Recreation organization from his group.... or not.
See you there on Wednesday.
