I'LL TRY TO KEEP UP...
I'm going to try to post updates throughout the evening, but I doubt I'll be able to keep up with them. Registrar Neal Kelley and his crew do an outstanding job of keeping us informed but there's a good chance that the final results won't be known until Friday or maybe Monday of next week.
THE LIES CONTINUE
And, just so you know, the bold faced lying continued right up until the last minute. In my mail yesterday afternoon my wife and I received a nice individually addressed letter from the liar, Colin McCarthy. In his two page note he tells us, "We have firemen earning $300,000 per year, but cannot afford to put dog waste bags in our parks!" Later he also says, "Costa Mesa's police officers are the highest paid officers in Southern California." Both of those statements are patently false and McCarthy knows it because of the stink raised when similar statements were included in a mailer he an Steve Mensinger paid for last week. Several sources denounced those statements, including Police Chief, Tom Gazsi.
YOU ASKED FOR IT...
I know most of you have already voted. Those of you who chose to vote for McCarthy and Mensinger, be advised that you've cast your ballot for men who apparently don't care about the truth. Do you think they will change if in charge? I sure don't.

Colon is going to dig himself a hole, if he gets on the council, he will continually be held responsible for his lies. He would have a very uncomfortable tenure in office after the things he has said. We don't forget.
Accountability is a 2 way street. After the election we will demand Gaizi show a source for bis claims, and be held accountable for such a misleading quote supporting the police union so close to elections
OC Regisger published a report that CMPD was the highest
What if the report looks at data a different way and CM comes in #2. Either way Gaizi will be hung by his words . He is for the Union
Hey Geoff, check this out:

Look at rows 1 and 2.
You, sir, are the liar.

Just saw it... thanks.
I've read that compensation report in total a half-dozen times. You can't count the pension numbers... the guys don't take that money home with them, you imbecile! And, ask yourself just why the pay is so high... check out the overtime column. That was necessary because your council refused to let the City hire new firefighters and senior staffers, so EVERYONE worked ungodly overtime. Just wait until this year's report... it will probably be worse in many cases.
Geoff,
My goal was to send you thanks before election results were posted, but I can see from your reporting schedule that some results are in already. (I haven’t peeked.)
You are owed the gratitude of the entire city for being the best and most reliable source of Costa Mesa news, and even though you claim “a few facts and a lot of opinion,” I find your facts and analysis to be more honestly presented than they are in any of the printed papers. The Register demonstrates an unapologetic bias and the Times has relegated coverage of Costa Mesa to the meek Pilot, which makes an effort to appear fair, but clearly skews its coverage.
That you have some regular detractors who post on your blog is testament to their realization of its importance to the community.
Recently, one poster has been gloating that you’re “always wrong.” He seems not to be able to differentiate between predicting “winners” correctly, and presenting facts and evaluating people, actions and events sensibly and with integrity. It is for this latter ability that I turn to—and refer others to--Bubbling Cauldron.
Without Bubbling Cauldron, we would have much less insight into the conditions of our city today and many fewer people working to make it better tomorrow.
Whatever the results, I hope that you will find the strength to keep us informed.
Thanks, Geoff
Tamar,
Thanks. The results are beginning to show up now. So far only absentee numbers. We won't have anything resembling the final numbers until Friday - if we're very lucky. Thanks for being a loyal reader and for taking the time and spending your energy to address important issues before the council.
