Recap Of Righeimer's DUI Stop

SHARING THE PAIN
I know... you're probably as sick of this issue as I am, but it's likely that you've missed some of the drama, so your humble correspondent will attempt to capture most of it right here on the old Cauldron.

HE'S EVERYWHERE!
Since Righeimer was stopped a week ago based on a tip from a discredited former Riverside police officer who has been working for the law firm employed by the Costa Mesa Police Officers Association Righeimer seems to have been omnipresent in the media.  I'm going to try to provide links to most of that for you below.  Just click on the name.

INTERESTING COMMENTS
I must tell you that there have been some very interesting comments coming out of this issue - most of them from Righeimer.  For example, in one of the early stories, where Righeimer was made aware of the link between the guy who reported him as driving drunk and the law firm that represented the Costa Mesa police, he is quoted as saying, "Are you kidding me? The playbook guys?" Righeimer said of the firm. "I knew I wasn't crazy. I knew it! I knew it! I knew it!"  I found myself thinking, "Not so fast, Jimbo.  Nobody said you were not crazy!"

LAW FIRM A CRIMINAL ENTREPRISE?
Twice, that I heard, Righeimer referred to the law firm involved, Lackie, Dammeier and McGill, as a criminal enterprise!  Twice!  At least!  And, those words are memorialized by electronic recording.

ONE MORE TIME!

I'm sure there will be more to come..  This should keep you busy.  But, in case it doesn't, you can watch his five-minute rant at a recent City Council meeting that he says may have set this off in the first place.

OMG! I was afraid we'd get through an entire day without a radio broadcast, tv broadcast or a press conference called by Riggy. No such luck!

I'm getting so sick of this I'm about to take up drinking...

Geoff, if you would just take the time to LISTEN to what Jim Righeimer is saying, you might be able to figure out what is going on in Costa Mesa. As it stands, you embarrass yourself with every remark you make. You obviously don't understand how the taxpayers are being affected by the organized public robbery taking place. Open your eyes and ears for God's sake!

Personally, I would be more than happy if the entire Costa Mesa police department was dumped. We need to start over with fresh faces, --- and better attitudes.

In my humble opinion, no cop is worth what Costa Mesa is paying. Residents would be better protected if they just purchased a gun.

It's interesting to note that the lunatic fringe stays up late. Thanks for demonstrating your view of the issue here for us...

'LISTEN'.... The fact that someone who supports this council would think that the entire police dept should be happy if the entire police dept was dumped shows what a bunch of baboons are a part of this faction. Thanks for making that clear.

Handsfree,

Maybe you're unaware that the hands free cell phone law has an exemption specifically for calling emergency services while driving?

Makes me wonder what else you, and others posting in these threads don't know, like:

How many times per day CMPD gets "I'm following a possible drunk driver" calls?

How many DUI tests are performed every day by CMPD officers?

If Righeimer actually paid for his "diet Cokes" while at his BUDDY'S bar, rather than just given a receipt by his BUDDY, the bar OWNER, after the fact to "prove" it?

Where is the video of the beer bottle being thrown through Monahan's bar window? That was never entered into evidence, or we would surely have seen it by now.(Bricks allegedly thrown through council member's windows seem suddenly to be a popular thing all over the country these days, if Google can be believed. Other than the brick, there's never any other evidence, like witnesses, our videotape).

With all the sudden anti-police sentiment being voiced by the city council members on the blogs, in their propaganda/press conferences, TV and radio interviews, I personally think that all CMPD officers should go on strike and let the city take care of itself for a week or two, preferably overlapping with a city council meeting (so that Righeimer and Mensinger can't benefit from their protection). Oh, that's right... The Costa Mesa police officers don't have a union, they have an association, which means they can't go on strike, and have very little power. CMPD NEGOTIATES with the city council for everything, and ultimately, it's the city council that decides what is given, and what is taken away... Which in itself is interesting, when it is that same city council who decides how much to pay themselves, when and how much of a raise they get, and what their benefits are (currently 3x those of a firefighter or police officer). The city council members also get a pension. Being a council member is a very lucrative part time job.

This truly is an election year, just look at who is making all the noise... Politicians.
