Costa Mesa Sanitary District Receives Transparency Award
CMSD RECEIVES TRANSPARENCY AWARD
Slipping through the cracks earlier in the week was the press release from Scott Carroll, General Manager of the Costa Mesa Sanitary District announcing that the District had recently been awarded the District Transparency Certificate of Excellence by the Special District Leadership Foundation (SDLF). Kudos to the Costa Mesa Sanitary District Board and the staff for this acknowledgement.

This award is a sham. To this day I don't think anyone knows why there is such intense resistance to see if we can get a better deal on trash collection, a 60+ year old contract. The only logical conclusion: KFA (Kickbacks, Fraud and Abuse).
KFA,
I concur. They sued to remove an elected member to silence him. Something really stinks with this bunch.
All awards that claim transparency are useless mean nothing. Look at all of those "transparency awards" that the City received, they come from online companies that have no value to them. They're there to just puff out the the chest and make something look better than it really is.
@KFA & trash man
How long was Fitzpatrick on the Sanitation Board? Was it a few years? And the best he could do was allege fraud and kickbacks? It would seem that he would have had more than enough time to substantiate something, wouldn't you, two, agree?
Trashman, get your facts stragight. the board member did something against the law, according to the Attorney General.
Sixty years same contract? Has anyone ever heard a single word from a CMFRG member on this? Negative! Complete silence. Their hypocracy is astounding.
Just the Facts,
You may be correct however nothing can deny the fact the board did not want to address his issue. Do you know why? I sure don't. Perhaps Fitz was onto something.
who cares what the attorney general said concerning Fitz? it means absolutely nothing. just a lawyers opinion. other lawyers feel differently than Harris who is just an attorney who got elected to something. it is a JUDGE who determines if anything was wrong. we never got that ruling because the other board members decided to use OUR ratepayer dollars, no matter what amount according to Perry, to get Fitz. Fitz cannot fight back due to finances, quits the planning commission to "cure" the perceived problem, and STILL the board says he has to go!! why?? follow the money pholks, as always. golf outings and steak dinners for directors and their wives from the trash company......hmmmmmm.......nothing to see here pholks look away. where is Reicher from the Register concerning this? guess they have nothing to do with Poseidon so why go after them? fairly warned be thee sez I.
Geoff,
I know your feelings toward Fitz however I would be very interested in knowing your opinion on why the San Dist was so resistant to get a quote for service. Such behavior creates suspicion.
Thanks.
Curious,
You THINK you know how I feel about Fitzy, but you're probably way off the mark.
My opinion on the other issue is that the Directors on the Board of the Costa Mesa Sanitary District, elected by the voters to provide the most efficient, cost-effective solid waste disposal and sewer service, have used their decades of experience to determine that the District and its ratepayers are best served by the contract with CR&R.
For specifics you need to address any or all of the board members, not me. I'm just a happy ratepayer who doesn't have to sort the trash to meet recycling mandates - the district does it for me. Thanks for asking.
Thanks for responding.
Fyi, I've never read one complementary word by you about Fitz. Every photo you post of him is a silly comparison to Shrek. So I think it is safe to say you don't like him. He has his flaws but he is the hardest worker for the PC I have seen and does a good job leading.
Regarding Curious comments, Fitzpatrick works hard for himself and Mensinger/Righeimer. He doesn't work hard for the PC nor the community.
Everything thing these guys do even if there is a great effort is about themselves. They don't really care about the community as we have seen over and over. They don't care about anything else other than what is best for them and their followers. They veil that as best for the everyone.
They tell those with different likes, wants and views that to them they are just noise. They don't want to hear their repetitiveness when they speak. Yet if it's support of lighting Fairview Park or support for their charter then repetitive speaking is desired.
Let's say even if the majority wanted to light Fairview Park. This council is suppose to do what's best and right for the entire community. That means balancing even the desires of the minority. Mob rule or tyranny of the majority is a bad thing.
The majority may want to eminent domain all the Hispanics property on the Westside and kick out the residents but that doesn't make it right nor mean our leaders should implement that policy.
Often times this council, the PC and now the Parks Commission will do what's in the interest of themselves and their supporters whether it's supported by the majority or not. It's really not about majority or community, it's about what they and their suporters want.
Sadly we did not elect true leaders. We elected people who do what is best for themselves and their supporters. Just look at all these commissions and their make-up. Loaded with campaign donors, developer friendly people and tea party /NRA extreme.
Fitzpatrick is just like them. He may work hard but it's for himself and Mensinger/Righeimer and the community really doesn't matter.
Seldish Leaders,
Come on, tell us how you really feel.
FYI, We elect officials to govern who look at many dimensions of the issues, not the handful of outspoken individuals who are against everything Council does. Like it or not, this is how it works in our representative system of government.
I wonder how many of these anti-CMSD pro- Fitz rants here are from the Chairman? From the wording, I would guess most if not all of them.
CM2013. Please show us where selfish leaders said anything other than leaders should be fair. Your response to that writer Implies differently. I agree with you the problem is the current council doesn't look at all dimensions. As was stated anything that doesn't agree with them is all noise. Do you have trouble reading and comprehending?
Comprehension,
CM2013 is right on. You seem to be having the trouble.
KFA another one who has comprehension problems. You should understand I agreed with CM2013. Read what I wrote and try to let it sink in to your little pea brain.
The problem isn't with CM2013's claim of what government is about it's with this Council not following that guideline and disregarding those with opposing views as noise.
Please KFA try to read and understand what you are reading. I know it's hard for you.
These guys are as dirty as costa mesa city hall.
alf ADMITS she is guessing again! well said alf, but stop guessing and use facts.
Fitzpatrick never alleged fraud you ignorant pessimist.
He uncovered what the good ole boys were doing and exposed it. Provided a solution to remedy the issues and was attacked.
Many of the issues raised were validated as big issues in a recent audit.
And yet the board has not changed the way it does things in the last 3 decades.
19 people applied, many highly qualified and what did they do? they put the gal that the voters chose not to re- elect back on the board to maintain status quo.
We hear good things about 3 that will run against the board members up for re-election.
And they will win.
Heads,
The Chairman is too cowardly to put his own name behind his countless inane posts here. He hides behind many usernames and the CMTA logo.
I will however " keep it consistent".
He gets full credit for any senseless trolling here.
Kwahlf,
I hate to disappoint you but the "Chairman" has many supporters and is not writing this message. How about addressing the primary issue here and state your theory why CMSD refuses to get a competitive bid for trash service. Something that has not happened in 6 decades. Or perhaps you only have problems when a good idea originates from someone you don't like.
Rob,
Did you have any problems when Gary refused to consider getting RFPs for an insurance broker, insisting on contracting with Arthur Gallagher ONLY last Tuesday?
"perhaps you only have problems when a good idea originates from someone you don't like."
Kwahlf,
What does that have to do this topic? Making a point this way shows how irrational your side is and why officials ignore you most of the time. Also, I am not Fitzpatrick either.
The Planning Commission is currently loaded with 100% bootlickers of the Developer and the goal is to take over San next.
Fortunately, this will fail. There is new info coming out about Riggy and Mensy that should begin to restore a proper balance of power in our city.
It was only partially about ideology all this time- the main goal is development development development.
Resist if you love Costa Mesa.
CM 2013,
Really? "Refusing to get bids"/refusing to consider getting RFPs?
You see no connection whatsoever?
CM 2013,
My question is directed at Rob.
The Chairman has posted here several times under different usernames claiming to not be himself.
Other commentators here have called him out on it.
alf always claims my posts are fitzs when they are not. but that is ok, she is in for a shock when she finds out there are a great number of supporters for fitz.
Jeanne, please elaborate.
Of course the Chairman could act like a grownup and clear this up by keeping his promise to sk and revealing his identity. She kept her word and part of the deal.
But that would require acting like an adult and keeping your word, things Chairman is incapable of.
Instead, he chooses to play his infantile games,
'tee-hee, is it me or isn't it me?' " how fun!'
Keep giggling oh childish one.
You get full credit for every inane, vile, infantile, tunnel vision post here written as only you know how.
The award was for transparency, the district met certain guidelines. The award has nothing to do with trash contracts and trash contracts have nothing to do with Fitzy holding two seats at the same time. I would bet at least one of these post came from a current district employee.
The transparency awarded Board will vote to raise sewer fees on top of the OC Sanitary District raising their fees.
Going to be a tough re election for some.
Let us not forget that Gary Monahan was on the Sanitary District Board for many, many years and HE never complained about CRR's trash contract. Hmmm, guess Gary was happy with it too...just like the majority of Costa Mesa citizens are.
Is Fitzy out fishing again? Every time he feels compelled to write posts do not belong to him, it makes me laugh. Pay close attention, his delusions are becoming more frequent. Seriously, we can count the number of true supporters he has on one hand. Sad little man.
District management may be meeting the transparency guidelines for this award but they sure aren't being transparent in their hiring practices. All management hires are previous co-workers of the GM!
Congratulations CMSD on your transparent act of nepotism! I read in the previous posts about the CMSD that the GM has hired his old employees from Claremont & given them high salaries for positions they aren't qualified for. SO you managed to fool the board, the public AND get an award at it? Kudos to the CMSD, indeed! Fortunately for them, none of the ratepayers, employees or boardmembers care enough to do anything 'bout it.
