Stephens Closes The Gap!

MY BAD!
Silly me!  I though Neal Kelley might give his great team some time off for the 3-day weekend, but no - his crew worked again today and gave us an update on the election results shortly after 5:00 p.m.

THE CURRENT NUMBERS

Sandy Genis gained 1,120 votes and widened her gap over Steve Mensinger to 1,355 votes.  Mensinger remains well ahead of Gary Monahan by 264 votes.  Monahan gained 660 votes, however lost ground to John Stephens, who gained 965 votes and is now only 190 behind him for that critical third seat.  There are only 4,757 ballots remaining to be counted.  Colin McCarthy is 284 votes behind Stephens.  Harold Weitzberg, Al Melone and James Rader continue to trail the field.

The gap between the incumbents, Jim Ferryman and Art Perry and the two contenders, Don Harper and Jeff Mathews, continues to widen with 5,086 votes left to count.
The results of the MCWD races are virtually final now.  With only 741 votes remaining to count Fred Bockmiller has soundly trounced Eric Bever.  With 811 votes remaining to be counted, Jim Fisler is well ahead of Dan Worthington.  Even though there remains 1,005 votes to be counted, it appears that Ethan Temianka will beat incumbent Trudy Ohlig-Hall.

THIRD CM COUNCIL RACE UP FOR GRABS!
It's impossible to predict what will happen in the Costa Mesa City Council race until the last vote is counted and the Registrar certifies the race.  With Stephens gobbling up a third of his deficit behind Monahan in one day of counting, and with more than 4700 votes remaining, you just have to say that race is up for grabs now.

Regardless of the final outcome, the council race evidences a city sharply divided.

The Righeimer recall would be an expensive, uphill battle, but these results, coupled with the giant defeat of his pet charter, prove that Napoleon is vulnerable.

The gang is reeling.
Go Stephens!!!
Riggy's already in trouble with the big bosses. Losing his majority will be devastating.

how is that McEvoy recall of Riggy going? when it was announced people were saying money was pouring in. Did it go up in smoke? or half in smoke and half at midnight munchies?

r madness, I hate it when this blog devolves to your level. if that's where you like to play, here's the appropriate quote from the renowned pundit Watterson, via Hobbs, "THBBBT!" So there! Boy i told you!

Several large Lincoln Club donors see Baugh and Righeimer as partly to blame for the ruination of the Republican brand in Orange County. It might be time for our little friend to move on, maybe to San Diego County where he can help people like Issa bully citizens in and around Oceanside. There's lots of open land there where he can build strip malls with borrowed money.

Hey sheesh, if you think my comment is bad you haven't been reading this blog for very long. the attacks on Riggy, Mensinger, and Colin are far, far, worse. I guess you were hoping for a recall to actually happen or you would have just laughed at my joke.

"the attacks on Riggy, Mensinger, and Colin are far, far, worse."

What "attacks?"
Riggy's a liar with a Napoleon complex, Mensy's a liar who bullies others, and Colon's a liar who slouches and smirks at the citizens.
Those are "facts."

And any hope that things would become more polite after the election were clearly misplaced.

You noticed! Not surprised. Lots of bad blood over the past two years. It's going to take leadership from the dais - on both sides - to turn this stuff down to simmer. We'll see what happens when the new council is finally seated on December 4th.

I ran the numbers and it's very encouraging for Stephens
if yesterdays trend continues. If yesterday trend does continue Stephens should win by about 10- 15 votes.

If the reports were correct that there were 7143 Votes left to be counted Friday night and there are now 4757 left. That means 2386 were counted Saturday. Stephens picked gained 105 votes meaning he closed the gap by 1 vote about every 23 votes counted.

With the remaining 4757 / 23 would give Stephens 206 votes more than Monahan of the remaining votes to be counted.

I wish I knew the actual rates from Wed - Fri. But if Saturday's rate continues there is great hope for Stephens and Costa Mesa.

Krochman you nor Cassity did anything to cool the fires. In fact both of you added to the turmoil. Now you both try to make it look like you care about cohesion etc.

Sorry Mr. Krochman you and Cassity already showed your true selves.

Hear hear!
Krochman endorsed Mensinger despite knowing his physical and verbal altercation record, and now he whines about politeness.

Meanwhile, thanks to the policies of Krochman's pals, crime is up.
