"End Of Watch" - See It!

 PART OF MY R & R
As part of my self-imposed relaxation regimen we sat the movie, "End Of Watch" today.

WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?
I hope you'll find time to see this film and then contemplate just what must be in the minds of those folks in our city who seem determined to destroy the lives of the men and women of the Costa Mesa Police Department.

LIARS...
Some of your elected, and appointed, so-called leaders seem willing to let no despicable tactic go unused as they attempt to paint the CMPD as a corrupt organization, filled with slackers who are only in it for the overtime and retirement.  They've even taken to vilifying individual retired police officers by lying about their perceived political activities and attempting to make them seem like greedy, lazy individuals who are bleeding the city dry with their pensions, all of which is just flat untrue.

HERE'S THE TRAILER
See the movie and think about it.  Here's the trailer.

WHAT is this about?

Did our city council members make this movie? Did they endorse it?

Why are you attempting to link this movie to our council's attempt to reign in the former policies that could bankrupt our city.

Maybe you should take some more time off to get your thinking straight!

Unbelievable...

Right on the money as usual.
Let me summarize it for idiots like Jimmy, Marty, and their masters:
Everyone agrees there should be police/other public employee pension reform.
What people like Mr. West and the majority of the citizens in Costa Mesa don't like is a bunch of extremists like Righeimer and his gang taking over the city in the NAME of reform. We know what you're trying to do. It won't succeed.

Do certain people have an alcohol problem? Sure seems like it.

Thank you CMPD.
Help is on the way.

While a cop movie like this doesn't have anything to actually do with Costa Mesa, it does bring to mind cops and what has happened (and more importantly what is going to happen) here in Costa Mesa if Righeimer's 3-Minions get elected.

The FD came up with a plan to get them through the next four years. It includes reducing the number of fire stations, and that will affect response times for now, but it also keeps the department intact and under CMFD control so in the future it can be built on again when the pestilence has passed.

The PD however is absolutely hated by Righeimer. They are slated for destruction.
I know for a fact that there are officers that are waiting for November to decide if they are going to continue their careers here or elsewhere.
Due to the fact that out of thousands of applicants, approx 1% qualify to even be considered (let alone hired) it is easy for a qualified and experienced officer from a top dept like CMPD to simply go elsewhere.
The thousands will still apply but the quality of the officers on the street will start to suffer when the standards are lowered.
If standards aren't lowered, the positions will go unfilled and staffing levels will go below operational. Hello OCSD.

Hey "Disgusting" (and you probably are), I think what the gentleman was trying to tell us is this: he saw the movie and it made him stop and think about cops. While thinking about cops, he realized how badly the cops in his own city are being portrayed for political reasons. That the cops come to work, they are dedicated and that they don't do it for the money or the pension (although I'm sure those are both nice). It's called stream of consciousness thinking. However to do so, you have to be conscious and you have to do your own thinking.

From the sound of Marty's latest rantings, I suspect the Righeimer gang, possibly through CM Taxpayers, might be subsidizing his hate blog.

Do Mensy, "Charlie" McCarthy, and Monahan endorse Marty's form of race-obsession and his odd ideas? Are the voters of Costa Mesa aware of this connection?

I read Jeff Harlan’s opinion in the Daily Pilot and wonder how much longer they will allow union hit pieces to be published? All Harlan can write about is the big bad city council.

Harlan has tried to get on the Planning Commission several times. This is nothing more than an attempt to please potential City Council candidates in hopes one day he is appointed.

But the biggest offense comes from Geoff West and the rest of the over the hill angry group is that they give Harlan a free pass because they agree with him. If someone were writing favorably about the City Council, they are taking orders from Riggy. A shill. A bootlicker. West loses all credibility with his one sided limited intellect Council Hater focus.

Does anyone else see the irony with Charlie McCarthy and Fitzpatrick?

They want to tell you we need this charter because we can't trust Council. Councils get bought and paid for by the Unions. So let's take the approval rights for employees salaries and pension increases from these untrustworthy council members and give it to the voters. OK.

Yet we are going to give these untrustworthy council members more opportunity to be bought and paid for by developers. Which by the way if you haven't noticed they are well connected with developers. Hmmmmm!

If these councils did vote for pension increases then someone needs to ask Monahan how many times did he vote for pension increases and other benefits as payback for Union support?

Specifically which votes did Monahan use as payback for Union support?

How does the CMTaxpayers Association justify their claims?

If this is all about these unsustainable pensions where is the outrage of sliding in 2 of the highest paid employees with the high pension when they could have waited a month or so and hired them under the second tier.

It's all FAKE folks or they would have waited and hired them under the 2nd tier.

Did you all know that CMCEA at least 2 years ago reformed new hires pensions to the same level that it was back in 1978 when they switched from Social Security to what is CalPers today. Also at that time they offered to pay their FULL share and part of the Employer share.

These are the greedy, blood sucking UNON thugs as council and Fitpatrick claim.

Harlan's commentary is spot on.

Jerome Kern, from Oceanside, came to Costa Mesa to help push Riggy's Charter.

He claimed Oceanside was already saving money by not paying prevailing wage on their Harbor Community Center.

The very project he trumpeted as the poster child for savings turned out to be totally false.

The project as Harlan points out not only lost the original contractor and had to be taken on by the bond company to finish it also had to be scaled down so much it's now only a warehouse and bathroom.

The residents of Oceanside got screwed and the project even scaled down to less than half it's original size still cost more than 50% of the original bid and was well behind schedule.

Often with contractors, you get what you pay for.

Do the best plumbers want to work a "piece rate" or prevailing wage?

Does a contractor with the lowest bid have the ability to perform the contract? Does that guy even know how to bid?

Has anyone even considered what it would costs to have a good contractor fix a crappy contractors work when he goes BK?

Council candidates please address this statement I attribute to Warren Buffet:

Price is what you pay, value is what you get.

Just by watching these hatefilled cc union members operate from the dais, I've always suspected them to be racists, not to mention homophobes and misogynists. I have no doubt that when they are alone together in the dead animal room at Bloatface's, the derogatory comments and slurs fly. They are prejudice against anybody who is not a straight, white, koolaid drinking gop male, except if you are a developer, but probably behind closed doors, you'll still be fodder for their slurs. Unfortunately, racism and prejudice are alive and well in OC; these people have learned to just keep the comments and slurs among themselves. However, their behavior and actions show them for what they are. (just look at how they treat Wendy Leece up there on the dais!)
Who, but other racists and people with prejudices, would want these people representing them and their city??? Anyone with on ounce of education, civility, and class would be running the other direction - as a majority of CM residents are doing!!

That's a thousand DUI arrest this year and that is scary if you really think about what that means.
This kind of thing really puts a face to the word "public safety".
These motor officers are the so called "thugs" that Righeimer, Mensinger and some of their followers like to refer to.
Recently Righeimer pointed his finger and put down the word to the chief that if he had to pull all of those motor cops to combat the real crime over on Ford road to do it.
Instead of pulling these guys from the job of keeping me and you from being killed by a drunk leaving Monahan's bar, how bout quitting the political games long enough to staff the PD so the motors can keep doing their job.

We expect our newspapers to be always accurate and reliable. We feel the same way about most, if not all, professionals such as doctors, lawyers, and teachers. (Note that I am weaseling the wording here … I certainly don’t want to put myself in the position of claiming something that’s not 100% true after seeing how some commenters have written off the DP for an admitted failure to verify.)

We cut our selves some slack, of course, because we know that we can’t be perfect, at least not all the time (weaseling!). Take the simple act of chewing our food. You might think that by the time we reached adulthood, we’d have it down pat. Turns out that 99.999% or so (weaseling!) of the time we do it perfectly. But occasionally, we turn into hamburger the inside of our cheek, or the side of our tongue. We don’t commit seppuku over it though (although it feels like a minor league suppuku).

I guess (weaseling!) it comes down to how much money a newspaper has available for checking facts. Biggies such as the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and the Wall Street Journal appear to have (weaseling, because I just don’t know for sure!) lots of staff to grind through every edition, trying to make it perfect.

But a small, local newspaper such as the DP – even a regional paper such as the O.C. Register – can’t afford such perfection. It’s because they have a higher ratio of overhead to reporter than the biggies. They don’t have the benefit of economies of scale that biggies enjoy.

So, as with most businesses (weaseling!), they have to cut back on nice-to-haves so that they can still produce the have-to’s.

At least that’s my best guess (weaseling!).

Chuck Cassity cracks me up. He says in his opening paragraph that what isn't in the charter remains the same as the general laws of the state. He actually repeats that so we all understand it. But that seems to be Chuckie's MO as he thinks he is so much smarter than everyone else and he exhibits his arrogance often.

But then in his very next paragraph he says we should vote for the charter because it frees us from the state and it's general laws. Didn't Chuckie already tell us this is not true and he did it twice in a condescending way too!

Chuck is actually saying onething in his first paragraph and then the complete opposite in the next paragraph. Let me repeat that so people get it. Chuck is actually saying onething in his first paragraph and then the complete opposite in the next paragraph.

His 2nd point makes me wonder 2 things. Which backroom deal did Mansoor, Monahan, Bever and others make as they all approved enhancements to employees pensions?

Secondly if that's the case and we can't trust councils then why are we voting to give them more power as we are going to give them powers over things they don't have now. How can we trust councils if they are so easily bought and paid for. Sure it wont be employees this time buying council votes but their developers buddies buying them like cheap you know whats.

His 3rd point. He mentions savings via, no bids and exempting from prevailing wages. He uses libraries as one of his example.

Well again 2 things. Has anyone checked the 2 libraries example in Northern California? Gilroy and Palo Alto. Google them for information.

Also someone should ask old Chuckie how well did the Oceanside Harbor Community Center turn out? Well it didn't fare well under non prevailing wage and turned out to be just a warehouse and bathroom. It also lost it's contractor and was way behind schedule.

There is more but it seems the Chuck Meister has a pattern of false claims and he even conflicts with his own comments.

I sure hope nobody takes his advice or truat his information.

Don't know terri, but eleanor is one intelligent woman. That comment makes you look like the complete fool that you are.

Of course Jim and most people who have any clue about this know Harper let it slip out in a moment of candor -several people heard it, he was in a very public reception for mathews and himself.. I guess he hadn't got the memo yet to pretend like this wasn't the plan.

Kind of like Jim Fitzpatrick wants to pretend his ranting about no-bid contracts is a fact, and not the ultimate shiny object -“hey, look over there”- to distract from the fact he really wants to secure the contract for his cronies over at Athens. (Lots of creative ways to fund a legal defense fund, right Scotty?)

Fitzpatrick hopes the public can’t see through his gross misrepresentation of the great deal the SanBoard has negotiated. Or...which is worse…he's truly ignorant of how his own Board and 90% of the Sanitary districts manage contracts and keep costs down.

Maybe he’s unhappy that the SanBoard voted to lower our rates this year because it punctures a hole in the fantasy he’s trying to spin.

See the Daily Pilot article at http://www.dailypilot.com/news/tn-dpt-0929-sanitary-20120928,0,2748955.story to find out what’s really going on.

A small quote “The Costa Mesa Sanitary District was recognized with three awards earlier this month at the California Special Districts Assn.'s 2012 Annual Conference in San Diego.
The association's Leadership Foundation, which recognizes special districts for their cautious fiscal practices and sound policies, awarded the Sanitary District with the District of Distinction award.”

Is Jim Fitzpatrick disappointed about this award? Another hole in his fantasy bubble? Any reasonable, responsible SanBoard member should be very proud.

I'm proud of my Irish ancestors who stood up to tyranny. I don't understand people like Fitzpatrick and Monahan, who seem to support Righeimer becoming emperor.

Just Wondering thinks he knows stuff. Like West, he misses the big picture.

Fitzy came up with the idea.
