Whew! Time For A Rest!
BREAK TIME!
I don't know about you all out there, but the pace of activities in Costa Mesa over the past couple years has been so frenetic and frustrating that sometimes it's important to just throttle back a little, take a deep breath and contemplate the future. This is one of those times for me.
SIMMERING CAULDRON
For the next few days I'm going to turn the Cauldron down to a slow simmer and just relax and TRY to not think too much about Costa Mesa's future. Yeah, right! Anyhow, I'm going to try.
PATIENCE, PLEASE
So, while I'm not going to completely ignore my responsibilities, it might take longer for your comments to appear. Be patient. Don't just keep hitting that "send" button. I will see them eventually.
A LITTLE HISTORY
Before I go, though, I wanted to share something with you. I started blogging in July of 2005 and shifted to this format and host, Blogger, in November of 2006. One advantage of that change was that I could post your comments. Of course, if you've been a regular reader, you know that's been a mixed blessing. My goal from the very beginning was to present my views to stimulate discussion of what I thought were important issues in our community. The new host gave me a way to measure that - your comments.
PAGE VIEWS
Recently Blogger changed the interface I use to post these things and, as a result, began showing me an interesting number - the cumulative number of Page Views since November, 2006. I had intended to mention this earlier this week as the counter crept toward the 800,000 number, but got distracted by the news of the day. Here's what that number looked like as I begin to post this entry.
AMAZING! AND THANK YOU...
I don't have anything to compare that number with - I do know that the "big guys" in the blogosphere rack up those kinds of numbers in a week. Do you think a million page views are possible before the end of the year? Maybe... Thanks to all of you who participate here. I'm grateful that you've chosen A Bubbling Cauldron to share your views with your neighbors and hope you'll continue to do so. I'll be back soon...

Have a nice rest, Geoff!

This hiatus might qualify you to fall into the ranks of the 47% who ostensibly aren't pulling their weight.
Do you feel guilty about this?
You deserve a break, Geoff.
Have a nice, relaxing weekend.
Geoff,
Old guys need rest. I know I do. Nappage has become my favorite pasttime of late. I enjoy following your exploits. Be sure to return rested and ready for the "clubhouse turn" in this little drama we find ourselves.
Geoff, I suggest a week-long, heavy drinking, wake-up-with-bleeding-ears-in-culvert-in-Mexico toot. Clears your mind remarkably. Or just have a bowl of Junket, and take a nap.
good news. i would say you deserve an even longer break, say for a month or so. take time to reflect why you go off on good Republicans and side with lefties and drink their takeover kool aid. do you really want to side with Ridge, alf, wilcox, fuqua, patti clarese, and the lunatic fringe who post hate as often as possible? what gives with that? oh, add angry harold to that. when will you come out and state it: he is a barnacle.
Once his wife and the ocgop kick liability-Jimmy to the curb, he can dress up like Geoff and go live at Marty's..

"the "clubhouse turn" in this little drama we find ourselves."
Not even close Chuckie. This is a marathon that's just beginning.
Geez Bebe...or Fitzy, your list of nemises gets longer and longer, while your list of "buddies" gets shorter and shorter. Pretty funny, huh?
yes, hilarious "JW". absolutely hilarious.
bebe, not all republicans are good and you want to talk about hate just look at Mensinger, McCarthy and Righeimers hate of city employees.
Yeah we know sometimes they in order to fool naive people like you they say sometimes our city employees are great but that usually is right before they say our city employees are greedy, evil union thugs holding the city and taxpayers hostage and only care about themselves.
This council had they cared about city employees would not have done what they have and found themselves in a lawsuit.
General city employees over 2 years ago agreed to pay more of their retirement and implemented a 2nd tier and yet they continue to be vilified by Mensinger and the the rest.
Fire in total contrast to what this HATEFILLED council said about them were now evidenced to always have been willing to step too.
But during this entire time this HATEFILLED council demonized our firefighters and said they wouldn't do what they have done.
What good republican do you know poses as a fake deputy sheriff scaring young ladies who work at baggage counters?
I bet you think Carona was a good republican too and Jim Bakker and Jimmy Swaggart were good Christians too.
I expect my republicans to be much more honest than McCarthy and Mensinger.
Lastly this isn't really about republican or democrat anyways. It's about local governance and what is best for all the people of our community.
Mensinger has already headed one business that failed why do we want to allow him to turn Costa Mesa into a business and help destroy it too!
The Costa Mesa brand is strong and getting stronger. The employees have been given a much needed wake up call about finances. Infrastructure replacement is now the priority, not higher pensions. No longer will fixing a road be called fixing it "on the back of the employees" as if we could have used that road money for higher employee pay instead. The budget is balanced without using reserves. The left wing crowd is spinning wondering who "WE" is/are. LOL. Mansoor won in a rout. The M's will too. The other slate has as its star an old politician who has lost her last two runs for office, an angry guy who appeared out of nowhere and is a bootlicker and yes man/puppet, and an attorney with offices in NB who seems nice but needs a little more experience in governance. All is good. Facts can be friends. Sanitary District will get a couple new faces and our rates will be bid out, most likely saving us some money (even if we retain the same company, they will reduce the rate). The personal grudge (aka shiny object) use of ratepayer monies lawsuit on Fitzpatrick will be ended. Two solid years of lunatics and idiots speaking on every item at every council meeting will hopefully be cut by 90 per cent. Second tier pensions will be enacted. Disgruntled firemen and cops will leave and we will get replacements who actually are grateful for the job. Parks, roads, libraries, etc. will be upgraded. All is good. CM is OCGOP friendly.
Do Fitzy and Monahan drink too much?
If so, should the electorate be informed and take into consideration when they want to be in public office?
Wow, spoken like a true politician, Roboto. I guess I'll vote for the Charter and the Ms now. Thanks for showing us all the light and enabling to see the rosy future we can all demand when Team Riggy continues. Gosh golly I feel great!
Robutto is seeing shiny objects. What's in that koolaid besides ocgop mind controlling drivel and drool? Friendly fact for you ButtO: The hatefilled Ms (and other detritus), the one man's "charter", and the hatefilled cc union are all coming to an end very soon, and then We, the People of Costa Mesa, will have our city back!! Only then will the Costa Mesa "brand" rebound and become strong again!
LOL, won't be close. "butto" = hilarious. when you grow up you can maybe vote to change things.
McNutt?
"Two solid years of lunatics and idiots speaking on every item at every council meeting will hopefully be cut by 90 per cent."
I didn't read anything in the proposed charter about opting out of the First Amendment to the Constitution. Did you?
You absolutely slay me, Fitzy (Gosh Golly)...
We're just a bunch of sign-stealing union thugs, according to Phil and Phil in the Pilot today. The machine is cranking right now.
But I'm just shallow and entitled according to the newest Facebook page that Team Charter is running (Yes on Measure V). The only thing I really feel entitled to now is calling them cowards (along with Fitzy's CM Taxpayers page) because they can never seem to post under an actual, real name.
They ask for reasonable date while stabbing you in the back at the same time. Stay classy!
I'll bet you team charter will tell you the charter will get rid of that entitled 47% just like it will take care of the pension issues. Lies, Lies, and more Lies!! Oh, what a tangled web these malfeasants are weaving!!!
Mike:
"according to Phil and Phil in the Pilot today."
Marty disrespects the Grateful Dead's drummer Phil Lesh by constantly using his name as a pen name. The real Phil's attorneys are not happy. There's no "Phil Lesh" in Costa Mesa.
Morello's a well-known CM extremist. Venezia read an email from him out loud at Feet to the Fire wherein he advocated inappropriate actions. I don't believe his rap about 38 signs stolen from his lawn, just like I don't believe the Mensy paint, Monahan brick, and Riggy set-up fables. Would-be oppressors acting as victims is the oldest trick in the book.
Morello is a liar, because in his Pilot letter he basically says that current candidates are responsible for the sign theft.
He's a creep who should be sued by Stephens, Weitzberg, and Genis.
They removed Marty's (aka Phil Lesh) letter from the mailbag section of the the Daily Pilot.
