City May Scuttle Marijuana Initiative
INITIATIVE DOOMED?
In a press release issued late Wednesday the City of Costa Mesa may have thrown a serious impediment before the proponents of placing a medical marijuana initiative on the November 6th ballot. You can find that information on the City web site, HERE.
HANDLED PROMPTLY
The petitions were turned in to the City Clerk around noon on Wednesday who date stamped each page, counted every signature and hand-delivered them to the Registrar of Voters.that afternoon.
STAKE IN THE HEART
However, the City MAY require the proponents to present information about the impact of the proposed ordinance on zoning and other elements covered in the press release. Because that information typically takes 30 days or more and the final date for the Registrar of Voters to certify the item for the November ballot, the City may have driven a stake in its heart.
NOT ON AGENDA YET
The agenda for the council meeting on August 7th was published today and it DID NOT include anything about this issue. It could be added as an emergency item but it seems impossible for the deadline to be met. We'll see.

I'll get to that initiative.. tomorrow. Got any peanut butter cups or little fruit pies? Is that "grandfather clause" related to Santa?
Where does Harold stand on this issue? This is his family business
Man, I need to gets my weed, come on Costa Mesa hook a brother up and let me buy my Mary Jane from a shop and not a hobo in the park.
So the Pilot has moved to using FB comments... and one I posted on that very subject, that was relatively innocuous, has already been deleted by someone (the Editors?)... great system. I think I like anonymity better, when they won't even print what I said with my name attached.
I'm sure my comment on Bever's commentary will be deleted by morning, but only because I used his 'bullsh*t' word.
harold is now featured on a monoply card that says unrig the system . very funny but hard to believe they did it.
Important ?
Go to his website if you want to know what Harold does for a living. Your "grand standing" fails here.
Of course the City is trying to stop this, this is their standard tactic,"sure, yes, we would love to have this" then once you turn your back, they stab you right in the ass. This City Council doesn't care about the "patients" anymore than any resident or voting citizen.
I got a flyer at my house. Full of nonsense. Had a picture of that Greg Ridge loser guy and some other angry looking woman.
Off a cliff. The Sandy Genis cliff will be worse, but will be avoided.
I thought OCEA made the Daily Pilot retract their involvement? Yet the union sponsors the flyer?
Why does this group talk about OC GOP involvement, yet invites out of town Democrats into our city. And see no issue with the do as insatiable, not as I do thinking.
Proving they are no threat
21 Jump. Your entire post is completely non sequitur. You mention Greg Ridge and an "angry woman". Then Genis, OCEA and union support of a flyer.
What flyer. If you got something that is actually telling and or damning, please do share. How does OCEA or "the union" figure into it?
Also incongruent to your post was the Daily Pilot retraction. That was with regard to Young Democrats walking precincts. According to the article, that was of their own accord. If you know something, do tell. How did OCEA or "the union" (feel like I need cheesy suspense movie music after every "the union"...duuhhh duh duuuuhhhhhh!) have any involvement? Or, are you just clinging to the old worn out "the union" (duh duhhh duuuuhhhhhh!) argument because it's all you got?
21 - can you repeat that in a coherent sentence please, or at least sober up before typing? Yikes...
