Hangin' With Tamar
REMEMBER TAMAR GOLDMANN?
Readers here will recognize the name, Tamar Goldmann, from several previous entries. I've mentioned her in the context of her tenacious, yet cordial, comments presented to the Costa Mesa City Council.
COURTEOUS AND RESPECTFUL
I first noticed Tamar as she spoke to the council a few years ago. She approached the speaker's podium almost as though she was trying to sneak up on it and, once there, she quietly, respectfully - almost timidly - said her piece and stepped away. She made me smile.
MORE ASSERTIVE
Since that time events have caused her to become more assertive. It's clear from her comments over the past recent months that she is less patient with this particular council, although never disrespectful. Those of us who follow the antics of the male majority on the council can certainly understand why she - or anyone else - might be losing patience with them.
RECOGNIZED BY HER PEERS
Well, recently Tamar Goldmann - a long-time educator at Orange Coast College - was presented with OCCs Hanging of the Orange award, bestowed upon faculty and staff members who have gone "above and beyond" their regular duties on campus. You can read all about it HERE. She's shown here receiving the award from Doug Bennett, Executive Director of the Orange Coast College Foundation

Yeah, she's just another hater/crackpot, right? Just kidding, of course. But that's how the Council would like to portray her and all the others who have our city's best interests, and not their own, at heart.
Congratulations to Tamar and much thanks for her time spent addressing City issues.
Wow! Congrats Tamar! I'm honored to have made her acquaintance this year.
Tamar has been a leader for decades. She and her family were very active with the local Boy Scout Troup 666 in the late 70s and early 80s, often hosting meetings in the Goldman home. Then, Tamar was the spearhead in organizing the locals into a group called Neighbors of Harbor Center. We worked together--fund-raising, hanging at City Hall, speaking at the Council meetings, going door-to-door with petitions, gathering in homes--to bring the developers to the table and negotiate some mitigation to noise and visual encroachments on College Park. Tamar has a strong sense of justice and is fearless! Mazel Tov, Tamar!
Bells are ringing, can you hear them?

Stealth bomber in a sweater.....God!, I love that lady.
Congratulations Tamar and thank you.
Congratulations, Tamar! You are one lady who Gets Things Done. It's nice to see you get some well-deserved recognition.
Congratulations, Tamar!
You are an outstanding lady with spirit, soul
and a heart of gold.
I'm am honored to know you.
there is a council meeting next Tuesday, correct? I cannot be there to speak but let this serve as a general complaint about Riggy's rant and just the overall bad experience it was except for Wendy who listened to all of us. Thanks Wendy- and you councilmen better step it up at the next meeting or you will hear more complaints from us. Not that I am against what you are trying to accomplish but just the style you showed this meeting. Why didn't you listen to us? And why do you continue to talk back to us about our comments if you are not even listening? How do you do that? It's like you know what we are going to say. And who is this "we" you are talking about? You never answer. Is it a Brown Act violation? Oh, thanks for appointing your cronies to the committees also. Glad I missed it.
I have known and admired Tamar for many years, we were colleagues at Orange Coast College. She is a polite, dignified, elegant woman who opinions I respect. She has done so much for our city and continues to do so. Thanks Tamar, keep up the good work and congratulations for the award at OCC.
