A New Month, Another Council Meeting Tuesday
A SCARY WEEK
After Halloween greets us Monday, we have a chance to shift gears on Tuesday, begin a new month and prepare ourselves for another Costa Mesa City Council meeting. Based on a peek at the agenda published late last Friday, it looks like this one may be brief... it all depends on what kind of shenanigans the council has up it's collective sleeve during Council Member comments. But, first some potential highlights Tuesday evening, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in council chambers.
I-405 FREEWAY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT UPDATE
Early in the meeting we're supposed to get an update on the I-405 Freeway Improvement Project, but no details are available now. I suspect this will be worth hearing.
TWO WARRANTS FOR NEARLY $5 MILLION
As usual, the Consent Calendar provides us with some interesting issues - some of which might not get any discussion at all. There are two warrants for the council to approve that authorize the expenditure of nearly $5 million in city cash. You can view #2392 HERE and #2393 HERE.
FOUR MORE RFPS FOR RELEASE
Further on down the Consent Calendar we find four (4) more Requests for Proposals which the staff will ask the council to release. Those are Fleet Maintenance Services, HERE; Reprographics, HERE; Graphic Design Services, HERE and Dispatch Services, HERE. None of these will receive any discussion unless a member of the public or the council requests them to be pulled for a separate vote.
HELIPADS, OUT OF SCALE APARTMENTS AND SMOKING
There are three (3) Public Hearings, normally scheduled by council rule to commence at 7:00. The first, involving a proposed helipad near the airport, is a request for continuance until March, 2012. The second is a review of a recent Planning Commission unanimous decision to approve a modification for apartment communities that significantly exceed residential guidelines. Wendy Leece requested this review. The third, which you can read HERE, is a new ordinance banning smoking in city parks, sports facilities and community gardens.
NO OLD OR NEW BUSINESS
There are no items of Old Business nor any New Business, so this meeting might end up being the shortest of the year. Then, again, this council may just surprise us again with their comments at the end of the meeting. We'll see... and report.

Happy Halloween!
Surely I'm not the only one who wants to dress up as Riggy this year; now you can too!

And let's not forget old Menssy..

The best shenanigans come from the audience.
Like when Geoff West stands up & takes pictures.
Or when the lunatic fringe makes comments.
It will be fun to watch 4-1 Leece read Sandy Genis' scripted comments.
Looking at Geoff West's write up here it is no wonder why the only supporters he has are the City crazy folks, a couple old folks and the liberal folks.
Anyone notice how hot the gal is that does the Costa Mesa Minute?
The reality is that Geoff West and his supporters Like Joe think Halloween is for kids. Since they do not like kids in our City, they will not participate.
But if they did
While out trick or treating, if you hear this little meaningless voice trying to be clever. That is how Joe dresses up.
What would Geoff West be, assuming angry old men participated?
Troll, gadfly?
If I were to be Geoff West for Halloween , I would stuff a bunch of pillows to make me look fat. Go to Goodwill & buy some old man shoes. And find something that would make me smell like an angry old man. I would put a camera around my neck and take meaningless pictures. Then I would say that I am going home to write old angry liberal thoughts on my computer. I would tell everyone that I will sit by my computer at 2am in my bathrobe to type away.
Sorry, that is a real but horrible thought.
That's a perfect description me tonight! With a couple exceptions:
I don't turn out the lights - kids who come to my house get LOTS of candy. I won't be up late typing - not much going on in town today.
Those shoes are not yet "old man shoes" - they don't make my model with velcro fasteners.
That "old man smell" is Old Spice.
Thanks for playing...
Really? WestisaNut: You seriously chose to comment on "how hot the gal" on CM Minute is? How shallow and demeaning! That's a legitimate comment, but the "old folks and liberals" at Council meetings are to be ignored? Your standards need some serious work! It's not the 70's anymore.
And, Westtohavelightsoff: The best you can do is to make fun of someone for superficial and meaningless things? I guess you didn't learn the important things many of us learned in kindergarten.
Either say something worthwhile or exercise some self-control and don't embarrass yourself on a public blog.
Yes, West's seat is like Fukushima. There is a 5-10 seat radius for the fall out.
Only the Union supporters enter that zone.
Union shtink is worse than Old Man West's.
Oh how I love personal attacks.
Speaking of kids. Let's not forget how much righeimer and Mensinger "love" kids. How they parade them around to make themselves seem like family men in public. But in private, they offer them $1 a sign bounty to steal political signs.
A reasonable person would think with the cameras and video running and Geoff interperting the council would be on notice to be above board. So much for Politics. Kissing babies and stealing loli pops. Go Geoff.
For halloween, Menacing should go as captin Bly, Bogart movie with the marbles ,I think,
Watching menacing do text messages reminds me of the scene in court with the marbles, wound a little tight . Happy Halloween
To my defenders - much thanks. To those boneheads who make personal attacks probably not expecting them to be published - guess again! I know who I am, what I am and what I believe and am happy about all of the above.
To get an idea of how my evening will go tonight, check this out:

To the boneheads: yeah, laugh and joke away, while your tax dollars go down the drain for all the consultants who don't care about Costa Mesa.
You must love Geoff's blog so much that you continuously check for new articles to comment on.
In reference to the "hot gal", I am absolutely SHOCKED that they allowed her to wear a trashy costume that looks meant for the bedroom than for a professional representation of City Hall.
Wow...City Hall has reached a new low! No wonder we are laughed at. What a joke!
Geez, Dave, lighten up just a little. I know you just got your revised layoff notice, but don't take it out on Christine Cordone! She was dressed as Wonder Woman and did a great job.
Don't get me wrong; i think she is hot too. But when we are striving to prove our professionalism in the midst of this circus, I just feel it is inappropriate for City Hall.
Kim, Geoff provides a place for all the whinning City employees a place to come and vent. Clearly a perceived value. Is your husband Billy? Will you be at Madaline's tonight? Will you be on a bike ride Friday because Billy does not work Fridays?
I come here to put my energies against the lunatic fringe. I believe the City Council is wrestling back control of our City from employees and anti family energies like Geoff West, Sandy Genis, Greg Ridge.
If Dave asked me for advise I would tell him to go home and tell his wife how lucky he is to have a job and a paycheck. That in almost any scenario he will still have a job at the end of the day. When all is said and done. Many of us cannot say the same.
Change is hard.
We will be here to balance the stinking thinking by Geoff West
Dave, it's Halloween, for goodness sake. Now, if we had Christine doing pole dancing while delivering the Costa Mesa Minute I could understand your concern... :-)
Occupy West's Head,
Lest you get too cocky, you will be 'here' only as long as I tolerate you. You see, on this site I am the omnipotent supreme being. I let you post here ONLY because I am a tolerant person - unlike yourself. I could do as other blog hosts do in this town and just post the comments that agree with me. You're a lucky person to be allowed to post here - continue to abuse the privilege at your own peril.
Geoff, what is the deal with the personal attacks? Is this a new strategy that the council supporters are now using? Why can't they just stick to the issues. I am all for a healthy debate, but name calling is so junior high. I get the feeling it is the same person over and over because the use of poor grammar and spelling is pretty consistent. You are more tolerant than me. Disagreeing about the issues presented is one thing but personal attacks over and over is quite another.
Geoff,
You are way too tolerant of the off topic, personal insults. You have obviously gotten under the skin of the others who are way too interested in YOU.
Have you noticed that the Council has not allowed the traffic grant for the DUI Checkpoints to get on the agenda?
I hope the refusal to take that grant money to keep the public safe does not come back to bite a councilman in the arse.
Karma is a bee-otch.
personal attaks: see Joe memos, right Daisie? What cities are hiring??

Me:
Political satire aimed at public, elected (one appointed) officials.
Feel free to ignore, then go back to licking Riggy's boots.
