Another View Of Immigration Sweeps

CMPD UNDERCOVER SWEEPS
Last Friday the Costa Mesa Police Department engaged in an undercover operation designed to crackdown on people illegally soliciting work on our street corners. According to the article in the Daily Pilot, HERE, 11 "criminals" were arrested for this "crime", ten of whom subsequently proved to be in this country illegally. Those men were apparently deported post haste.

WHO COMPLAINED?
This operation,
according to the Daily Pilot report, was launched because of "some complaints in the community". Those complainants were not identified, but anyone following politics in this city for the past decade will have a pretty good idea who "they" are, and why they complained, HERE.

I DO NOT SUPPORT ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

I've made my views known for a long time on the subject of illegal immigration
- I DO NOT support illegal immigration. However, the prospect of attempting to deport upwards of 12 million people living and working in this country illegally seemed to be not only impractical, but impossible. I firmly believe most of those folks were doing difficult, dirty jobs - many of which simply wouldn't be done by legal residents. They are still doing them - or trying to do them.

DOMINO EFFECT IN THE LABOR MARKET
However, with our econo
my in the tank thanks to our trainee President and his stupid programs, many of the jobs those folks held have gone by the wayside, along with hundreds of thousands of other jobs further up the food chain. So, folks losing higher paying jobs are having to settle for anything they can find, including some of those jobs being done by illegal immigrants. This, of course, has created much stress.

CRISSY BROOKS IN THE DAILY VOICE
Today, in the fledgling Newport-Mesa Daily Voice, Crissy Brooks - who, according to the Daily Voice, is "the executive director of Mika Community Development Corp, a faith-based nonprofit whose mission is to identify and equip leaders in low-income neighborhoods" - wrote a very poignant commentary addressing this sweep from a "those-left-behind" standpoint. I hope you will take the opportunity to read her commentary, HERE.

CMPD SHOULD GO AFTER "REAL" CRIMINALS

I hope the folks at the top in the CMPD will reassess their position on immigration sweeps and redirect their efforts toward the real criminals in our midst - those who engage in identity theft, run red lights and injure folks, etc.

White Supremacist Gangs In Costa Mesa?

PHILLIPS AND EPPERSON RETIRE FROM CMPD
This morning the Daily Pilot will carry an excellent article by Joe Serna discussing the retirement of two Costa Mesa police officers - Bob Phillips and Clay Epperson. You can read Serna's piece HERE.

WHY BRING IT UP?
So, what's the big deal about two cops retiring, you ask? Wel
l, both men are taking advantage of the recent retirement incentive program, but that's not why I'm writing this tonight.

WHAT WILL "THE
MOUTH" SAY?
Nope, I writing this to specu
late about what kind of a response it will generate over at the Mesa North repository of hate, the CM Press.

FLUSHING OUT WHITE SUPREMACIST GANGS
Epperson is quoted by Serna as saying that his greatest accomplishment during his 29 ye
ar tour with the CMPD was working with detectives while on the Special Enforcement Detail to "kick out white supremacist gangs." He went on to say, "Those are some really evil people that do severe harm to the communities they're in."

NO WHITE GANGS?
From time to time our racist laureate at the CM Press has vehemently denied that there is a white gang problem in our city, preferring, instead to berate the CMPD for his perception that they don't do enough about Latino gangs
.

WHO DO YOU BELIEVE?

So, who's word will you take? Will you listen to an internationally notorious racist with a long career publishing anti-anything-but-white tripe and who has demonstrated a clear pattern of behavior designed to disenfranchise and dislocate the Latinos
who make up approximately one-third of our population? Or, will you listen to a decorated police officer with almost three decades serving our city, trying to make it a safer place to live, work and play? Gee, I think Epperson's got my vote.

Let's see what the CM Press has to say...

THANKS, AND GOOD LUCK
Regardless, thanks to Phillips and Epperson to their years of dedicated service to our city. They both deserve a happy, safe retirement.

CONSIDER THE SOURCE...

SOME GOOD ADVICE
Do you remember the phrase, "Consider the source"? It's good advice when assessing opinions which you may or may not choose to consider when gathering information with which you may make decisions in your life.

"THE MOUTH" RANTS
That's what m
akes the CM Press entry #574 so interesting. In that entry, which you may read HERE if you have your gag reflex under control, the author - The Mouth From Mesa North - berates the Daily Pilot for identifying a man who robbed a local Rite Aid store as "balding, white, 6 feet tall with a thin build and no facial hair in his 40s or 50s. He was wearing a black leather jacket and brown, khaki pants."

AH, STATISTICS...
Apparently The Mouth is offended that the Pilot chose to provide a description which might help the police track down this miscreant. He goes on to provide edited "statistics" from a publication called, "The Color of Crime - Race, Crime and Justice in America" to deflect the fact that this particular crime was committed by a white man.

FACTS INTERFERE WITH HIS OPINIONS
The Mouth has complained many times that the Daily Pilot has failed to provide descriptions of criminals which he, paragon of investigative journalism that he thinks he is, "knew" were Latinos. With almost no exception, when a crime has been committed in our city anywhere close to neighborhoods populated predominantly by Latinos, he launches into his anti-Latino frenzy, yet remains curiously mute when crimes are reported that are committed by whites.

FOLLOWING HIS MANTRA
This interesting double standard has carried over to one of his disciples, too. Mayor Allan Mansoor has been seen frequently jumping on his soap box when a "Latino crime" was committed, yet he virtually ignores white crimes. Perhaps the best, and most inexplicable, example of that would be the county-wide sweep of white supremacist gang members a couple years ago. In that sweep, which was aimed at white supremacists who had, among other things, put out contracts on police officers, netted 57 suspects. Of those, 20 of those were snatched up at 17 locations in Costa Mesa. At the time our young jailer/mayor said nothing about this major police event in our city and, to this day, Mansoor has not made any public pronouncement on that event. Curious, isn't' it? I wonder why?

FOLLOWING THE TRAIL

At the invitation of The Mouth I clicked on the link provided for his source of statistics, then began following the trail to it's source - an organization called the "New Century Foundation". It was absolutely no surprise to me when that organization turned out to be an organization with very strong white supremacist links. I followed those to a web site called American Renaissance, another white supremacist site. I then did a Google Search for the New Century Foundation, which led me to some very interesting articles.

SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER VIEW

One of the most interesting is a segment of a piece on the web site of the Southern Poverty Law Center, renowned for fighting racism in this country. In a list of white supremacist organizations it provided the following comment about Jared Taylor, founder of the New Century Foundation:

"Jared Taylor, the man who heads the New Century Foundation and edits its allied magazine American Renaissance, is a white supremacist who celebrates the "clear conception of the United States as a nation ruled by and for whites." The foundation and magazine, based in Oakton, Va., tirelessly advance pseudo-scientific theories linking IQ to race and advocate eugenics — selective breeding to "improve" human genetic stock."
I found several similar comments about Taylor, including some published by the Anti Defamation League (ADL) chronicling Taylor's white supremacist publications and speeches.

WHAT'S MY POINT?

So, what's my point after all this verbiage? My point is that we should consider the source of "information" when we receive it. In the case of CM Press #574, give consideration to the fact that The Mouth uses white supremacist literature as his source. Consider the fact that his books and essays on far right-wing web sites are rife with commentaries bemoaning the dilution of the gene pool through interracial mating. Consider the fact that he has, for most of the past decade, been engaged in a non-stop crusade to oust Latinos from Costa Mesa. Consider the fact that members of the current City Council majority have echoed much of his racist tripe verbatim from the dais.

Consider the source...

White Gangs, Aliens on Bikes and a Windbag

OOPS, THERE REALLY ARE WHITE GANGS IN COSTA MESA!
Despite what you hear from certain venues in the north side of our town, there really are white gangs in our town. One local blogger - an obnoxious windbag who does his literary pontificating from a cave in Mesa North - specifically ignores that fact during his many frequent rants about gangs in our city. I wonder why that is?

VICIOUS BUFFOONS
Daily Pilot reporter Joseph Serna wrote a fascinating story yesterday, HERE, in which he tells us about the arrest of three purported members of Public Enemy Number 1 (PEN1) following an unprovoked attack on a Latino man who was driving along Bristol Street. I'll let you read the story yourself - it's very amusing - particularly the part about how the woman in the trio was apprehended. Obviously, gangsters are not rocket scientists.

IGNORE THE LYING WINDBAG
The point here is that this is just one of many examples of the existence of predatory, vicious white gangs in our city, despite what the windbag says. You will recall that we've written a few times about the county-wide sweep a couple years ago that landed 20 White Supremacists at 17 locations in Costa Mesa. That sweep snagged nearly sixty White Supremacists county-wide. That a third of them were found in our city is very relevant.

MORE "DANGEROUS CRIMINALS" OFF THE STREETS
Further on the law enforcement front, Orange County Register reporter Niyaz Pirani, in his periodic police report, tells us that at 5:20 a.m. on Saturday, July 12th a 37-year-old gentleman named Gerardo Cardenas of Costa Mesa was arrested on suspicion of a traffic violation and riding without a bicycle headlight on Paularino Avenue and is currently being held on an ICE hold.

Looking further in the summary of crimes in Costa Mesa we found Mario Munoz-Tonix, 26, also of Costa Mesa, arrested at 8:40 a.m. on July 9th under suspicion of riding a bicycle without a license and is on an ICE hold.

We also found that 36 year-old Sergio Estrada Estrada was arrested at 10:20 a.m on July 11th on suspicion of riding a bicycle without a license and is currently on an ICE hold.

And, I'm sure we all recall the first "dangerous bike rider", the Sunday School teacher who was snatched up for riding his bike the wrong way on a residential street, taken to the jail and deported.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE "DANGEROUS ALIEN FELONS"?
You will recall the hoopla by then-mayor Allan Mansoor a couple years ago when he told us his ICE proposal was intended to remove dangerous alien felons from our streets. You may also recall that I told you at the time that his proposal was just a smoke screen to expunge brown skins from our city. Well?.....

DO YOU FEEL SAFER NOW?
Let me ask you... do you feel a whole lot safer tonight knowing that those dangerous bicycle riders, Cardenas, Estrada and Munoz-Tonix, are off the streets? Will you now be able to walk the streets safely with those men - who were likely riding the bikes to their jobs - incarcerated and awaiting deportation?

WHAT ARE THE CMPD'S MARCHING ORDERS NOW?
I find myself wondering just what the marching orders are that the good men and women of the Costa Mesa Police Department are working under that would prompt them to snatch up bicycle riders? And, are they looking at every bicycle being ridden through our city for licensing violations? Do they stop the kids on the way to Newport Harbor High School or Horace Ensign Middle School? I think we know the answer to that question.

POLICE STATE ESTABLISHED
As I predicted, the so-called "improver" majority - Mansoor, Bever and Leece - have permitted this city to become a de facto police state. They, through their actions, have polarized members of he Latino community in our city - egged on by the windbag mentioned above. I'm not proud of the course being followed in our city. I'm not proud that it's been turned into a bastion of intolerance.

***

PROFESSOR WINDBAG BELCHES
As I was about to publish this entry I notice that the windbag mentioned above has posted another rant on his blog. This time he's instructing the Daily Pilot on how to run their business. This "wisdom" was obviously gleaned from his wonderful experience playing - quite badly, by the way - an anonymous reporter in a mid-70s cult movie that sold five or six tickets and may be had for two bucks at Amazon.com.

SELF-SERVING HYPOCRITE
Scattered through his list of suggestions to the management of the Daily Pilot are a few that are quite obviously self-serving. He suggests, for example, that the editors accept "short, anonymous comments" on their articles. Ever since the Pilot began requiring registration this guy - apparently unwilling to be identified with his comments - lost a forum for his vicious, irrelevant mini-rants which he would post under many "pen names", sometimes on the same comment thread, in an attempt to fool readers into thinking his views were widely held.

WANTING IT BOTH WAYS
After embracing anonymity, in the next suggestion he turns around and complains about the Pilot linking to Community Blogs that are published anonymously. These, of course, have been very critical of him and his blog. He can't have it both ways...

DEMANDING "ICE" COVERAGE
And, in his last suggestion, he would require the Pilot to provide more ICE and immigration coverage - no surprise there.

OH, YEAH!
I'm sure the editors of the Daily Pilot will give his suggestions all the attention they deserve...

Caspa On The Radio and Mickadeit on White Supremacists

MEDIA DAY AT THE CAULDRON
The day is still young and it's already very interesting. First, I listened to Dr. Humberto Caspa speak about his book and his view of conditions in Costa Mesa during a fifteen minute interview this morning on KPFK radio, public radio in Southern California. In an unfortunate bit of programming, his fifteen minutes of fame, literally, followed a prolonged rant by a rabid Palestinian supporter. I'm not sure how many people hung around for Caspa's interview - besides me, that is.

CASPA NAMES NAMES - AND SPELLS THEM, TOO

Caspa had the opportunity to expand on the thesis of his recent book, "Terror
in the Latino Barrio: The Rise of the New Right in Local Government". He emphasized the influence of one local activist, not only naming him, but spelling it for the audience to be sure they got it. I couldn't help but smile. You can hear Caspa's segment on KPFK HERE.

FRANK MICKADEIT TODAY

Then I grabbed my copy of the Orange County Register and began reading the headlines, looking for issues that interest me. I came across columnist Frank Mickadeit's contribution to the "Local" section of the newspaper - an entry entitled, "Racism, bullying top ADL agenda", HERE. I like Fran
k's work, which ranges from the politically relevant to flights of fancy, depending on his mood.

HITTING THE BRAKES
As I quickly scanned down the single column I came across the name of Costa Mesa Police Lieutenant Clay Epperson, so I jammed on the brakes, backed up and began reading more slowly from the top.

ADL ON WHITE SUPREMACIST GANGS
The focus of Mickadeit's column is a recent dinner hosted by the Anti-Defamation League in which the subject of white supremacists in Orange County was discussed. He quotes Kevin O'Grady, director of the local ADL office as saying, "Southern California does have more white supremacist activity than the rest of the U.S., and (within Southern California) Orange County has the most". Yikes!

EPPERSON HONORED
His mention of Lt. Epperson was in the context that he and Orange County probation officer Lowell Smith were honored because they, according to Mickadeit, "independently did groundbreaking work studying, documenting and suppressing white racist gangs".

PUBLIC ENEMY NUMBER 1 DISCUSSED
Mickadeit goes on to discuss what he describes as the local gang of greatest concern, Public Enemy Number 1, about whom the ADL has produced a 12 page brochure. He mentions that Orange County is the hotbed of PEN1 activity and includes Costa Mesa as one of the four cities, along with Anaheim, Garden Grove and Huntington Beach, in which it is flourishing.

WHY?
Why do I mention Caspa's interview on the radio and Mickadeit's column on white supremacists in the same posting? Funny you should ask...

DENIAL AND RACISM
In our city there are those who deny the presence and influence of white gangs, focusing, instead on Latino gangs. Some of these same people - the guy mentioned by Caspa during his interview, for one - are also holocaust deniers. All credible law enforcement sources admit that white supremacist gangs -
with their violence, drug manufacture/sale/use and their identity theft activities - are a big problem in our city. During a sweep 18 months ago, when nearly 60 white supremacists were snatched up throughout Orange County, a third of them - 20 - were apprehended at 17 locations in Costa Mesa. To this date our then-mayor, Orange County Deputy Sheriff Allan Mansoor, has never uttered a public comment about that sweep - a fact made even more difficult to understand because one of the reasons for the sweep was because those miscreants had put out "hits" on law enforcement personnel, including sheriff's deputies and prosecutors! How do we explain his silence on this issue when, at the same time, he was jumping up before the media every time a person of dark skin was arrested for any kind of crime? How do we interpret this curious double standard?

FORCING LATINOS OUT
Personally, I think the denial of the impact of white supremacist gangs in our city, coupled with the obsession about Latino gangs, is indicative of the influence one man has had on the leaders of our city. It's clear to me, and to Dr. Caspa based on his views presented in his book, that the emphasis on the Latinos among us is a racist effort to expunge men and women of color from our city.

A CAMPAIGN ISSUE, FOR SURE
This will be an issue during the upcoming campaign season, regardless who runs for City Council. Members of the current majority - Mayor Eric Bever, for example - and others that follow the drumbeat of intolerance in our city who chose to run for City Council, will be subjected to intensive interrogation on their position about race in our city throughout the campaign.

Gangs - Drumbeat Of Lies Muffles The Truth

GANGS TO BE STUDIED - AGAIN
At their
study session on Tuesday, April 8th, members of the Costa Mesa City Council will consider, among other things, proposals from representatives of the Costa Mesa Police Department about their plans to manage the gang issue in our city. You may recall that the council majority rejected a proposal to fund an intervention element last year, restricting the police department's activities to enforcement only. As I've stated many times, enforcement alone will not solve the gang problem. I can tell you that from first-hand experience. The neighborhood where I grew up in Los Angeles is now dealing with it's fourth generation of one gang - Los Avenues - and they are more vicious than ever.

NO DETAILS AVAILABLE
We really don't know what the CMPD has in mind this time around because the staff report, such as it is, tells us only that the issue will be presented, with no details. I guess we'll just have to wait until Tuesday at 4:30 in Conference Room 1A to see what they have up their sleeves.

MISINFORMATION SPREAD

In the meantime, sources of misinformation around town are howling about this event, proclaimin
g that it will be another plot by "lefties" to make Costa Mesa a sanctuary city for illegal aliens. As is usually the case, this blather is pure fabrication, intended to further inflame a difficult situation in our city.

BULLDOZING THE "PROB
LEM"
There are folks who think the one-third of our population that are Latino are the root of all problems in our city and the solution is to bulldoze apartment buildings occupied predominantly by immigrants - usually Latino immigrants. Apparently they feel that if you can't use legal means to discourage these folks from living in our city, then it's OK to chase them out using the blade of a Caterpillar D9 as motivation.

LATINO GANGS THE ONLY PROBLEM? NOT!

Another little bit of self-serving fiction being foisted off on r
esidents is that Costa Mesa gangs are primarily and overwhelmingly Latino, and that the members have strong links to illegal aliens. Horse manure! Yes, there are Latino gangs in Costa Mesa. Yes, some probably know illegal aliens through their cultural ties. However, ask any Costa Mesa cop familiar with the gang issue and he will tell you that White Supremacist gangs are a huge problem in this city. They are much more dangerous to the general populace than the Latino gangs might be. They are heavily engaged in the drug trade and identity theft, infiltrating financial institutions and harvesting personal data. Those who spread misinformation about gangs won't tell you that... I wonder why?

A PLAN FOR ALL GANGS NEEDED
I hope the study session presents to the city council options for dealing with all gangs in Costa Mesa and I hope they will give very serious consideration to the funding and implementation of an intervention element this time around. You simply cannot "enforce" gangs out of existence - a fact to which every credible student of this subject will agree.

LIAR, LIAR...
Meanwhile, the drumbeat of intolerance continues to attempt to drown out the truth with a steady stream of lies and fabrications... You'll probably be able to tell who the purveyor of these lies is if you attend the study session - he'll be the guy with his trousers aflame.
