A Full Parks & Rec. Commission Agenda Thursday

A FULL AGENDA
The Costa Mesa Parks and Recreation Commission, under the leadership of Chairman Kim Pederson, meets for its monthly meeting tomorrow, Thursday, October 22, 2015 beginning at 6:00 p.m. in City Council Chambers at City Hall and has a pretty full agenda facing it, HERE.

TREE, PLAQUE, BENCH REQUESTS
Early in the meeting there will be two requests for trees honoring individuals.  The first, HERE, is a request for the donation of a memorial tree, bench and plaque at Estancia Park honoring Frank P. Forbath.  The second, HERE, is the request for the donation of a memorial tree and plaque at Estancia Park for Katherine Libel.

TREE REMOVAL REQUESTS
Under New Business there are three tree removal requests involving five (5) trees total:
954 Governor Street, HERE
1869 New Jersey Street, HERE
2822 Ellesmere Avenue, HERE

The staff recommends denying the first two and approving the third.

HARBOR BLVD. BIKE TRAIL PLANT PALETTE
The commissioners will consider the plant palette for the Harbor Boulevard Bicycle Trail, HERE.

CHANGES IN THE COMMUNITY GARDENS
The next item on the agenda is the Community Gardens Report, HERE, and includes clarification of the current situation with the two community gardens.  Recommendations include additions to the policies that govern the use of these very popular sites, for which there apparently is a wait list estimated to be two-years in length.

PER PLAYER FEE ANALYSIS
The final item on the agenda is the Per Player Fee Analysis, HERE, conducted by the staff at the request of the commission a month ago.  They surveyed several cities nearby for input on their practices.

WE WILL REPORT...
As is usually the case, we'll attend and report the outcome of this meeting.
