Snoopy House Launched On Saturday
BEEN TO SEE SNOOPY?
Have you been to the Snoopy House yet? No? Well, you have to find your way to City Hall between now and December 23rd to enjoy the fun, see Santa, get your picture taken and just enjoy the spirit of the season.
A GROWING TRADITION
This event, transplanted to the City Hall lawn four years ago after more than four decades at the Eastside home of the Jordan family, is rapidly becoming a very happy tradition for Costa Mesans.
LAUNCH DELAYED UNTIL SATURDAY
I visited the site Saturday evening. The original opening ceremony for this year on Friday was rained-out, so Saturday's evening was a much more laid-back event. No politicians puffing and pontificating while I was there. Just lots of people having fun.
Children from Mariners Elementary School entertained the crowd with songs from the choir and, later, some tunes from the band. It was wonderful to see all those smiling young faces sharing the joy.
Stationmaster Brad Long oversaw the train rides. The lines were building for it as I left around 7:00 p.m.
SCOUTS ON PATROL
Cheerful Police Explorer Scouts were busily patrolling the event.
TIME FOR SANTA
Santa had not yet arrived, but his house was all ready for him. He will be there every night through the 23rd.
THANKS TO ALL...
Thanks to the Jordan family, and to the City staffers and volunteers who worked so hard to get this operation set up and ready to go for another year. With only minutes to spare staffers Kelly Shelton and Dan Baker were seeing to last minute details as the sun set and the festive lights on City Hall took over.
COME SHARE THE SPIRIT
