It's OC Fair Time Again!
A MONTH OF FUN!
Just in case you've been dozing for the past few weeks and missed the media blitz about the opening of the Orange County Fair today, I thought I'd give you some information about that month-long event to chew on. You can read more details in Jeremiah Dobruck's piece from the Daily Pilot, HERE.
OPENS TODAY
The Fair opens today at noon with free admission and parking for the first hour. That's a BIG deal all by itself. You can read the details about this year's Fair HERE. It will run from today, July 12th, through August 11th and is dark on Mondays and Tuesdays each week.
DEALS, DEALS, DEALS!
If the $11 admission and $10 parking gives you the shivers, they have MANY promotions that will get you in on the cheap. Read all about them HERE. For example, every Saturday and Sunday from 10-11 a.m. you can take advantage of the "Rise and Shine" deal - a $3 admission! Check out the page for many other deals.
FOOD, FOOD AND MORE FOOD
And, of course, there's the food... Ugh! Where else can you find such culinary delights as bacon-wrapped, deep-friend turkey legs, deep-fried, bacon-wrapped pickles, deep-fried Oreos and - a new experience this year, a Krispy Kreme donut filled with Sloppy Joe filling? Boy, if that doesn't have you salivating like Pavlov's Dog by now...
DON'T MISS IT!
So, plan to join the more than 1 million visitors to the Fair this year. There's fun for everyone. See you there.

When are the fireworks scheduled? Every night?
Checked with the folks at the Fair. No reference anywhere on their web site, but I''m told there WILL be fireworks every night they run, starting at dusk, or close to that time.
Good thing Katrina Foley "preserved" the fair and went to Sacramento to make sure Costa Mesa has no local control.
When residents begin to complain about the fireworks, and they will, let's make sure they have Katrina's phone number and make sure we all remember in November when she runs for city council
Bursting in Air,
Stop blaming Katrina for everything.
It's becoming your specialty, boring and repetitious.
btw,
Do YOU really want to bring up fireworks??
Missed opening day for the first time I can remember.
But we will make it there soon, hopefully next week.
It wouldn't be summer without the OC Fair.
alf thinks there is only one other person who would vote for the boyz or comment in their behalf? nutty
Oh....Bursting with (hot)Air....did you really have to go THERE?
Thank God Righeiemer's, false Save the Fair, ( by selling it to a private developer with no oversight, CONTROLS or restrictions), didn't happen. We would have to endure up to FOUR Fairs a year. That was their plan.
Much like Righeimer's "local control' mantra over a City Charter, all it does it take away our actual "control" and place our city's management firmly into the hands of private companies away from any prying public eyes. With no oversight or ability to "control" how our money is used to perform the services we need.
Thank God, we had residents who stepped up to the plate and stopped that sale of the Fairgrounds. It sure wasn't Monahan, Mansoor, Righeimer, or Temianka.
Now the NEW Fair Board is very attentive to the needs of the residents and public, first and foremost. They are re-committed to maintaining and preserving the stewardship of that property. Any problems or concerns I recommend reaching out to our newest Council member Sandy Genis. She was the previous President of the OC Fairgrounds Preservation Society, and is currently serving as Fair Board Liasson. When Sandy speaks to the Fair Board....they listen.
Your comments just expose how disconnected from reality you really are.
There are others you will need to complain to about Fireworks.
Sandy Genis, Guinness or Genius was a leader of the pack.
And so was the below market horse loving Geri in the cult.
Please direct your anger to these individuals.
They will try and put up smokescreens like his comments, But they are to blame.
does Genis belong to any other groups such as anti desal groups? she acts like it. should do a little ex parte on that Sandy before your council comments.
givin alf fitz,
You missed it by a mile- not surprising.
Multiple online personality disorder indeed.
The Horse stalls at the OC Fairgrounds rent out at above average market rates,......but now I know who's been giving you your talking points.
