Santa's Getting Ready...
FEELIN' GRUMPY
With just 8 days to go until Christmas I'm feeling more like The Grinch than one of Santa's elves these days, so I find myself in need of some "perking up". After all, I don't want that jolly old fella to leave me a lump of coal in my stocking, do I?
SMILES GUARANTEED
So, here's a little early Christmas cheer for you. I gave you this "gift" a couple years ago, so you might consider this a kind of "re-gifting" event.
Enjoy...

Geoff: Forgive me for changing the subject, but I am grinning from ear to ear and I think this will make you smile, too. Millard keeps running a picture of Rick Francis on his blog. It's driving him crazy that Francis will be in city hall!

I find Millard's positions odd. If he's really a racist as some believe, then that's even more odd, in light of the fact that it's 2011.
Maybe some of the council extremists would like to see the rancho system revived in Orange County. Riggy and Menssy can be overseers and all non-whites can work the land.
Gary would be in charge of water and Bever can be commissioned to paint frescos in the new mission churches.
Fitzpatrick could be put in charge of the mules.
I saw that.....Millard thinks he's "arrogant".....PC term that in Millards weird world, has replaced "uppity"...Millards not fooling anyone.
Geoff,
The other day I posted the message below on the CM Press website. It was in response to the author Martin Millard's attacks on our new future assistant CEO who starts his new job next month. Needless to say, my post did not get published. Many have discovered that if the message does not conform to Mr. Millard's views of the world or does not shower him with complements, it is usually ignored.
He finally replied (CM Press #713 - Dec 17, 2011) where he talks about his obsession with race without addressing my original message. In summary, my message talks about how he is his own worst enemy when trying to solve the problems of the Westside and his "obsession" on race is not helping his cause. Somehow he went off onto something a little out of this world.

Martin,
You are clearly an extremely bright man, excellent writer and passionate in your beliefs, this I give you without hesitation. So let’s use some of your intellect for your own good.
Let’s give Mr. Francis a chance before we attack him. I say give him a year. It will take some time to learn the job and get up to speed with all the internal politics and big problems with the city staff. If after a year he looks like another “Roeder”, you will have lots of help. In the meantime, stop attacking him and just wish him well. Don’t miss another opportunity like you did with Commissioner Dickson. That got you nowhere also. If you truly want to make [positive] changes to the Westside and Costa Mesa, as many of us do, you have to change your methods. I suggest to you again, but now for Mr. Francis, contact him and start a constructive friendly dialog. Your blogging is defeating your purpose and does not make anyone want to work with you or feel sympathetic toward your cause. Your methods actually are self defeating. As logical and clear you may present your case, simple human nature will cause many to resist you because any victory may be perceived as a concession to you; a label nobody wants. End results, we all suffer.
Secondarily but equally important, your obsession with race prevents good people from wanting to be associated with you in any manner. You really ought to stop that behavior; it does not work and never will aide you in your cause. Indirectly, that hurts us all also for the same reason.
I don't think Uncle Martin is as smart as some people believe he is.
Like Gingrich, he says things that the less educated THINK are smart.
I can't help but wonder how long all of you pious hypocrites will be willing to continue living in Costa Mesa when it becomes 100% black and/or Latino? Keep in mind that along with blacks and Latinos come gang warfare, with each race trying to dominate the other, or better yet, wipe them out!
My family was living in Lynwood, CA many years ago when it was all white. Today it is all black. Since I don't want to be called a "racist", I won't bother to tell you how that happened. Instead, I will let you figure it out for yourselves. After all, I'm not responsible for your property values, ...... you are.
I agree with Real Doctorate. Think about it... Millard goes before the city council month after month for years making recommendations, almost none of which ever get anywhere. Yet, he keeps doing the same thing over and over hoping for a different result. Doesn't sound too intelligent to me.
Way off topic,
Don't look for your comment here... it was, indeed, way off topic - too far.
Why would anyone ever try and reason with or attempt to understand the likes of Martin Millard?
would you try and reason with Hitler?
I don't think the ethnicity of the new assistant ceo makes the slightest difference. The fact that he was hand picked by this corrupt regime tells me all I need to know.
This is kinda off the topic here but can we get a fact check-press release about the city admitting that outsourcing to private companies is NOT cost effective?
The city is using about half a dozen contracted building inspectors at close to $100 an hour ($30 bucks for the inspector and the rest to the company) apparently the city realized this was too expensive and recently hired those inspectors as city employees to save money.
As far as that slob milard goes, he's a nazi lunatic and I can't believe that city hall even gives him the time of day. Isn't he the one responsible for those boulders in paularino park to prevent the mexicans from playin futbol???????
Any other city he'd be written off as a crackpot nut case but here he could probably get elected.
"Any other city he'd be written off as a crackpot nut case but here he could probably get elected."
Spot on regarding Millard. What concerns me, is that up to this point, he has been a staunch council supporter. Not one of the fellows on council has done anything to publicly denounce him, or distance themselves from him. In that regard, their actions are tacit approval of his beliefs.
I suppose they will take their support anywhere they can get it. Shameful.
how did we get on that topic?
i will choose to smile.
cute video.
Terry,
That's a very good question. These folks hijacked what I hoped would be a nice, little non-controversial pre-Christmas post and made it a completely inappropriate rant. Well, that ends here...
This discussion started because unlike Millard's blog, where critical comments are frequently not posted, free speech is alive and well here (as long as it's civil.)I started this discussion so I will end it. Happy holidays to all!
