Fair, Concerts, National Night Out and Council Meeting
HURRY UP!
Been to the Orange County Fair yet? No? Well, you'd better get crackin' because its run is half over and there's lots of fun to be had.
DR. STEVE ON TV
CMTV and Dr. Steven Beazley, President and CEO of the Orange County Fair and Event Center have collaborated to present "At the Fair", a weekly video presentation available on streaming video at the city web site. These short - 10 minute - clips give you interesting information and may help motivate you to visit the Fair and partake in the food (Deep fried practically anything) and entertainment. You can view the first one HERE and the second one HERE.
TWO WEEKS LEFT
So, from Wednesday through Sunday until August 14th you'll have a chance to be part of the record crowds having a blast at the Fair. Enjoy.
MY FUN? THE COUNCIL MEETING
Tonight, instead of going to the Concert in the Park or participating in the National Night Out event I will, once again, be hunkered down in the City Council Chambers as they council deals with pithy issues at their only real meeting of the month. Yes, they have a study session scheduled for the 9th, but they canceled the August 16th council meeting, so this is it until the day after Labor Day. I'll report tomorrow night - unless they manage to run the meeting into Wednesday morning. I'll report when I can, in any event.

It's a tough choice: indigestion from eating too much fried food at the Fair, or indigestion from attending the Council meeting? Wouldn't it be nice if we could - as we used to - trust our local government leaders? Then we could go to the Fair and have fun. Indigestion is probably less of a problem when it's not accompanied by high blood pressure, too.
Valan2: go to the fair, the council meeting is predictable (is the fair open today though?) Tonight at council Leece's move to cut council pay, a move that does not apply to her, will go down. Perhaps though she will announce she is from now on not cashing in her medical stipend. Her transparency bill may get staff time allotted to it but probably not and, if so, will go down on a vote. It is superfluous. Then there will be Genis and Leffler complaining about something with a stern warning from Genis that they better do what she wants or they are opening Pandoras box. Perry Valentine will have something picked out to complain about also, all to no avail because it will be pure speculation of a "maybe" coming evil doing. He will be seconded by Humphries and then there will be a guy saying we should have a Thanksgiving Day parade and develop oil fields and reap lots of money by doing so. Bever will use his comments to rightfully point out Genis' error and then Leece will come up with an oration against the men at which point Mensinger will interrupt her and tell her he disagrees. Monahan will say the floor is still hers and go ahead and continue attacking the men. At which point she will ask "city manager" , not CEO, Hatch a question just to rub it in. She will wonder why she was not voted mayor when she gets home, after all, the crowd was with her. That pretty much sums it up.
Uqfl, you've convinced me... I'm staying home tonight and won't test my bum knee and foot by sitting in the chambers for 5 hours. I'll just sit in my living room, sip a cool drink with ice on the knee and view the festivities on Channel 24.
