Fox Business News And Homeless Task Force

NEVER MIND!
In the immortal words of Roseanne Rosannadana, "Never Mind". Two minutes after I posted this entry this morning Interim Communication Director
Bill Lobdell sent me a note indicating that Fox Business News has canceled their parking lot pontifications today. Darn!

FOX BUSINESS NEWS IN THE PARKING LOT

Today, we are told, Fox Business News will set up shop in the parking lot of Costa Mesa City Hall as part of their traveling dog and pony show throughout California, during which they are interviewing various individuals relative to the crisis in State and local government. I don't know who, from Costa Mesa, will be interviewed since our media hog, Jim Righeimer, is in China trying to find someone in the "empty city" of Ordos to talk with.

MAYBE MENSINGER?
I understand that his sidekick, Steve Mensinger, has been the contact guy with Fox, so maybe he will get his face on the national news and give them his version of the crisis myth. That should be interesting. Do you think he'll be able to get through a one-minute segment without smirking?
Will he have his posse of Estancia High School football players huddled around him for support?

WHERE'S GARY?
And, it begs the question, where's the mayor? Has Gary Monahan been so marginalized - something many have observed in recent weeks - that Costa Mesa is going to be represented on national television by a guy who got only 3 votes to gain a seat on the city council instead of the mayor who has more years on the council than any other person? Is Monahan too busy pulling beer taps - as was the case on St. Patrick's Day - that he can't be the face and voice of the city on national television? What a truly sad commentary on what has happened to our city, where the personal agenda of one or two men now drive the course of this city, disregarding the voter's choices.

STOP IN AND SAY HELLO

So, if you're cruisin' past City Hall today - we don't know what time they will be there - stop in to say howdy to the folks at Fox Business News.

HOMEL
ESS TASK FORCE MEETING
After all that fun the Costa Mesa Homeless Task Force will hold its meeting at the Emergency Operations Center (between City Hall and the Police Department) beginning at 5:30 today. I'm planning on attending this meeting since I got another close look at some of the homeless folks in our city as I worked my way through them to attend Wendy Leece's Town Hall meeting last Monday evening.

AGENDA ITEMS
On the agenda tonight will be:
Best Practices - City of Pasadena
County of Orange 10 Year Plan
Definition of a Homeless Costa Mesa Resident
General list of ideas to reduce homelessness

Tentative time line for future meetings.

SHOULD WE INVITE THE FOX FOLKS?
I wonder if we can get the good folks from Fox to sit in on the meeting? That might be fun.

Seems to me that there is a major leak at City Hall. As soon as some employees get wind of something they pick up the phone and give the Pot Stirer a phone call.

Actually, I think Geoff should call Fox & reschedule. Please have Wendy be the face or Costa Mesa.

Come on Geoff, you and the Unions support this gal. Let's five Weathervane Wendy some national face time.

Kiss our City reputation good bye.

Hey! That's a GREAT idea.. put Wendy on TV! I love it!
No "leaks"... I just ask questions. Funny how many answers you can get by doing that. I'm glad you're finding this site to be a valuable source of information.

You can never kiss your reputation goodbye. A reputation always stays with you. It can change from a great reputation to a terrible reputation or vise verse, but it never goes away. Unfortunately for Costa Mesa Riggy and crew changed Costa Mesa's reputation from great to awful in a few short months. We have a reputation, just not one we are proud of anymore! I hope come 2012 we can turn that back around!

A leak in city hall? I wasn't aware a news crew showing up is considered top secret? Well, I guess it is if the entire purpose of the visit has nothing to do with reality and everything to do with grandstanding. We wouldn't want to have a dissenting opinion there now would we? Oh wait, this is Fox News we are talking about- nevermind!

Costa Mesa's reputation was also smeared by Union ads all over the internet, all over six month layoff notices the union required. The ads contained many outright lies, exagerations, and some character assasinations of elected officials. The unions hurt our reputation big time.

Guess what, you are late to the party. OUR REPUTATION is already in the crapper because of you and all of your aliases and the 4 turds on the council..Let us not forget the contributions to the downslide, Moorlach and Baugh.
Can't help but hope Righeimer stays in China. His kind of politics used to be in vogue over there. Maybe he can be king of the new city.

Perhaps Martin Millard could conduct Fox News through city hall and, during the tour, share his theories about racial eugenics. Millard's "mud people" theory would make a nice lead for the evening editions.

Wow, some folks need to get out more, or visit our City.

The Haters appear to be Union driven out of towners. They have no clue what is going on in our City. I double dare you to visit Mesa Verde now that all that street paving is finally occurring. Residents love this City Council, and no amount of Hater Ads, sings and posts will change that. Why do you think there has not been a Recall? Because the polling numbers say you are the vocal minority. But facts have never stopped you and Geooof West.

Wendy Leece thinks that 40 years in our City is somehow a badge of honor. That may appeal to a few of our elderly who are scared by her union speak. But many are aware of her comments that youth sports are greedy and their tight budgets cannot be trusted.

Attracting families to our City is Vital! And Wendy clearly demonstrates she has no clue! A Costa Mesan is anyone who pays taxes in our City. Not someone who has lived here since the 1970’s and refuses to change. Wendy, what do you say to Costa Mesans that have bought Million Dollar homes? What do you say to families that have just moved here?

Maybe a reason Hatch keeps hiring and using consultants is that he and others do not trust the current Staff

I am glad that change is occurring. Haters will always hate change.

Grant Street...Geez talk about haters. The vile coming from your mouth speaks volumes. Of course Mesa Verde is happy. Their road were in great shape, but got redone anyway. How nice that you support a carpet bagger. Geoff is going to say what he wants on his blog. It is amazing how many haters from the OCGOP not only read it, but post on it. You make a choice to read it, so it speaks volumes that you and your minions continue to post your hate filled comments, hoping to accomplish what?

I keep seeing the word "haters" and I swear I want to break out into a rap maybe even a rap with a ballin' video yo. Stop using that word, unless you are 14 and don't live is Mesa Verde. You see here is the word on the streets. The Lil' kiddies get money if they play those white boy sports like football and baseball. Now if you don't play with 'dos kiddies then you are out of luck. Here in the CM we don't like those other sports like soccer or basketball. Soccer tears up the fields so they aren't as nice for pop warner and basketball encourages kids to wear baggy clothes. And we aint gonna let that happen now are we? Sounds to me like we have some racists up in here, for real. Get over yourselves and just admit the fact that you care only about you, your kids, and screwing everyone not in the first two categories. Nobody else deserves anything other than to be thankful you allow any of them to work. Word.

Let's get this straight: Tom Hatch is now hiring temps (now, instead of consultants) on the 5th floor because A. Any employee with an ounce of decency would not work for him B. He can be the lapdog for the City Council and no one is the wiser C. The secrets (ha) of the 5th floor can be safe. All of the above. City Hall especially the 5th floor is a joke.

Geoff, I too have noticed that the Mesa Verde track is having a lot of road work done lately. Now I am not a road engineer but I don't remember the roadways in the Mesa Verde track being in disrepair and I think there are other roads that could have used the work first (Redhill comes to mind). It isn't too far of a stretch for one to see that the Mesa Verde track is probably one of the most politically active (in terms of voting and money) and the roadwork being done there is being done only to win votes and support. Maybe I'm wrong on this and there is a logical explanation. Do you know who decides what roadwork is going to be done and when? Is this another case of politicians bringing home the pork or is my imagination running wild?

run and tell, you should run and hide!

If you would only use that 3rd grade education and look at the names of the 'kiddies' who sign up for these 2 sports; you will find a number of Rodriguez, Vallie, Hernandez, Poco, Pico, Perez and Smith.

Get over the racist crap, if you can't score a goal on merit and with proof to support your hypotenuse, you should be benched so another player who’s ready to be part of a team can come in.

Anyone who plays a team sport should know there is no room for a big mouth, rouge, whiner on the team; they only draw negative attention to themselves and their team mates. EXAMPLE: Costa Mesa City Council.

I am certain there is a large number of ‘you’ out there that wish play-a’s as yourself, would stop represent’n ‘Yur’ team as also being racist… ya, that’s right, uuuhhhuu.

Eastside Phil,
I spoke with Peter Naghavi about that a couple weeks ago. He and his team have a schedule of street repairs/maintenance that stretches out several years. This Mesa Verde rehab is coincidental - scheduled long ago based on the condition of the streets using a formula most other cities use to establish priorities.

At Grant street... move. Why you hate-n?
I have proposed several times that Mesa Verde become its own city, it seems that part of CM feels entitled because they can smell the private country club. This would work out well for us on the eastside, you can keep your homegrown counsellmen. Problem with the eastside is we all say we live in Newport Beach, embarrassed of where our reputation is going.

Talking about street improvements and Million dollar homes, the last time I looked at the MLS, more Million dollar homes are on the eastside vs. MV, so why dont we get our streets repaired or even sidewalks installed. I had to pay to install a sidewalk, only one on my block, now walkers can enjoy 60' of safety :). Does that count as community service?
Yes I have lived in this city all my life, I have seen all the changes. I got into the political aspect 4 years ago by default when a newbie rolled into this great city and guaranteed that I would be out of (a conservative estimate) $18,000 per year of income, for the rest of my eastside homeownership life.
I'm not hate-n I'm just bitter at the entitled ignorance.

Geoff, my eastside brutha from another mutha, keep it up!

I'm a 'young(ish) family in Mesa Verde' ... and I don't know where those polling numbers come from, but it's not from my friends - they're more likely to leave because they don't like what the CC is doing. Call us the Mesa Verde (City Council) Haters!

And I would have been just fine leaving the streets over here the same... they didn't need repairing. Not much I can do about that.

Living in a VERY close proximety to this road work, there was a need... although not as desparate as other areas.

Get it done, move on... as long as those stupid speed bumps don't go back in... talk about grandiose.

You do realize that Roeder was City Manager for decades. Many employees at City Hall are having trouble with change.

I think it is reasonable & customary to staff with people who you trust. And when you don't trust, temps are a good thing.

I don't think people are realizing that change is taking place and the complacent style of Roeder is different to how Hatch is running things.

That's why you see employees post here and run ro the phone and tell The Pot Stirrer that someone farted.

This will pass when Hatch restocks the talent pool

Let me see how many aliases: Unanimous, RickandJenn, Grant Steet....Move!, Put Wendy on TV, ajay, Not Surprised and so many others. Come on Marty, get real. Instead of calling us haters (we aren't) look in the mirror and see what a real, hood wearing racist looks like.
I have an idea. Why don't you try cleaning up your yard so all of us neighbors of your won't have to move from Grant St.? Seems like you have lots of time on your hands. Don't tell us your house is going to be the temple for your new religion. Maybe your concept of a front yard is sloppy, like they way you dress in accordance with your "belief". Hey, to each his own. We think you are free to practice whatever religion you wish. We just wish you would do it someplace else. Idaho sounds promising. You could fort up like all the other loonies.
Maybe you can get your elected pal over in MV to come over and get our street fixed. Cronyism is alive and well in CM!
PS: What polls. I know of no one has been asked. I guess if you pick your audience well enough you can get the results you want.
No recall? Maybe because the next election is so close at hand and Riggy and friends are digging their hole deeper daily.

Ohhhh Danny Boy: Restock the talent pool? Who do you imagine would go to work for a city that pink-slipped half its staff without doing a lick of work to find out whether outsourcing would benefit the city or even if it could lawfully be done? A city whose council majority decimated the police department -- against the recommendations of its own experts -- and put public safety in jeopardy? A council that tried to outsource paramedic services without even talking to its own in-house expert? And on and on.

Public employees are not like pieces of dental floss that you use, throw away and use another just like it. They are individuals, unique and not fungible.

Sure, the city manager can find somebody he can hire, but don't expect him to find people who are smart, experienced and dedicated to serving the public; they are the ones who are leaving or have already left on account of the actions of the City Council.

To say Hatch is running things is a bit of a strech. He is a yes man. Riggy runs the show down at City Hall. Alan Roeder was City Manager for 26 years and did a great job. Look what has happened in the last eight months since Riggy, Mensy and Hatch have come on board. Costa Mesa is a joke. Everyday some lame councilman opens his fat mouth and puts his foot in it. Look what Monahan did just this week. Are these councilmen the best the OCGOP could come up with to fight their battles? Pretty pathetic if you ask me.
