Packed Agenda for Bike Committee Meeting Wednesday
NEW LOCATION FOR THIS MEETING
The Costa Mesa Bikeways and Walkability Committee meets again on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the usual time - 6:30 p.m. - but at a new location. This time the committee will meet in Conference Room 1A, on the first floor of City Hall. Their usual meeting room at the Costa Mesa Senior Center is unavailable because the entire building is closed for termite treatment. The agenda is HERE.
SMALLER GROUP
I noticed from that agenda that the herd has continued to thin out. The committee apparently is down to twelve (12) members plus appointees Dr. Kirk Bauermeister and Brent Stoll, representing the Newport Mesa Unified School District and the Chamber of Commerce, respectively. The council liaison continues to be Katrina Foley.
CITY SOLICITING NOMINATIONS FOR COMMITTEE VACANCIES
The city is soliciting nominations for many city committees, including the three positions on this one. You can read all about those vacancies HERE. The deadline for application is 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2016.
ATTEND THE MEETING...
When you review the agenda you will find several interesting items on it. Among those are the West 19th Street Bicycle Facility Project and the Master Plan of Bicycle Facilities. For those with a special interest in making our city a more bicycle-friendly and walkable city, you may find the couple hours spent watching this very compatible group do their work to be time well-spent. There is no television coverage of their meetings, so you'll either have to attend along with a handful of fellow-residents or depend on this site for your source of information.
See you there...

No other police officers in attendance. That speaks volumes about their lack of respect for the council majority. The council majority has no shame.
One would think that the 33% increase in crime in 2015 would be a main topic of discussion?
33% is on top of the extreme rise the year before. It keeps the officers too busy to do anything except run from call to call. Very sad.
