Medical Marijuana Action Scheduled For December 9th

AS SUSPECTED...
As I speculated in my earlier post, today the Costa Mesa City Clerk, Brenda Green, confirmed to me that the reason for an unusual City Council meeting on December 9, 2014 is so the council may consider their options regarding the Medical Marijuana situation.  Following our correspondence she published an announcement to that effect, HERE.

TIMING UNCLEAR
The notice indicates there will be a closed session, but doesn't indicate a start time for that meeting.  It says the council meeting will commence at 6:45 p.m. - an unusual starting time in and of itself -  but under normal circumstances any closed session would precede that start time.  I'll try to get a clarification on that tomorrow.

TOUGH DECISIONS...
The second item indicates, as suspected that there will be a "review of agency report on Medical Marijuana; Two Medical Marijuana Initiative Petitions Qualifying for Ballot; Consideration of Adopting a New Ordinance, Ordering Election; Consideration of City Medical Marijuana Measure(s).

NO DISCUSSION TOMORROW
She is VERY specific - these items will NOT be discussed at the meeting scheduled for December 2, 2014.

SHORT LEAD TIME FOR THE REPORT
The staff had a very short lead time in which to prepare the report mentioned above - certainly, not enough time to present it to the council on December 2nd.  I'm actually amazed that they may have been able to put it together by next week.

ONE MORE TO GO AFTER TOMORROW
So, after the coronation of the new council tomorrow we have one more meeting to look forward to before the Christmas holidays.
