It's Time To Remember...

...HOW THIS ALL BEGAN
On March 29, 2011 the editors Daily Pilot published a long commentary I submitted to them a few days earlier.  In that commentary I capsulized my views on the events in Costa Mesa over the previous fifteen months, and specifically the events that happened earlier that month.  You can read it HERE.  You can also read some contemporaneous blog entries I wrote about those events HERE, HERE and HERE.
IT'S TIME...
As we approach the holiday season, and with nearly two more years of turmoil and tumult behind us, I thought it was appropriate to refresh our memories about how things began with this current regime.
...TO PREPARE
In eleven months there will be an opportunity to return control of this city back to people who follow the rules, have the interests of the city paramount in their minds and treat residents with courtesy and respect.  Now is the time to begin contemplating how important the election of November, 2014 will be to the future of this city.

James Righeimer came to Costa Mesa to further an extremist agenda. His policies and dumb ideas have cost the city millions of dollars. He has accomplished nothing of note. He is running scared. The Newport bosses see the failures in Costa Mesa and realize it will cost ocgop dearly in up coming elections.

Long after Righeimer is gone, we will remember the turncoats in Costa Mesa who joined him for their own benefit.

this era in costa mesa has been awful.. i get so sad and worried after watching EVERY meeting. from city council to planning commission to parks and rec's. i do not trust the council majority or the majorities of both commissions.

i bought my home in a neighborhood i love in westside costa mesa. my husband and i put so much money and work into making our home a haven. the new proposed ammendments and decisions made by our current leaders have hit me so hard. i am at risk of losing everything i love about my neighborhood. from high density building in the neighborhood, small lot conversions, huge homes built without concern for current property owners, removing city trees.
plans of developments that are actually pushed through with favors for developer friends or political connections. pandering to oil companies that are able to buy what they want to have done in california. it seems the majority of these leaders could not care less about current residents in any manner. i'm told i have to go to meetings to effect changes. every meeting in the last 2 years has had lots of opposition but the current council NEVER listens or comes to a compromise on issues that oppose theirs. now that things are beginning to look up for californians, i should be able to relax and enjoy my home i am still left with a depressing outlook. i rarely hold a fatalistic attitude, but these men have made me disgusted and feeling disenfranchised. thanks for that guys.

Arthur, I have heard the same thing. Lots of hesitation towards Riggy from the OCGOP.

Xyn, we all agree with you. We are resigned to work as hard as we can to get them out voted out of office and some people in there that care about Costa Mesa and its residents.

Thanks Geoff for the reminder and keep reminding us. Although, I don't think the malfisiant actions of those "people" will be forgotten by the residents of CM for a long time because we will be living with - and paying for - the aftermath of those actions for some time to come after we get rid of them. And we will get rid of them! I think it would be easy to start with the awful, spiteful little man Monaghan. I'm not on Facebook so I wasn't aware until someone showed me last night that skoshboy has posted on his Facebook page the video by "Art Vandelay" or a similar one of our CM residents (the people for whom he is a public servant) at cc meetings. The total hatred and disdain toward the very people he has been elected to represent (and just barely this last go around) portrayed through this immature, skewed, and out of context video on his own Facebook page is more than enough to have him step down. Between that and his rude immature behavior on the dias, shows just how much he hates anyone who's opinion is not the same as his and to have him on our cc is a complete embarrassment to the city and residents. And he disabled the comments on this video too. Little coward step down! Go sign up for Obamacare and stop taking health insurance welfare from our city! This our elected representative and this is what he posts on his Facebook page. Really?

Does it take another tragedy for the council majority to wake up and realize that they are creating even more dangerous Costa Mesa? With the proposed restrictions on police calls on lodging establishments, I fear that another death may result and it will take years for them to admit their mistakes (like the case with the lay-offs).

Concerned Citizen...they will never ever admit their wrong doings (they are not "mistakes").
