New City Web Site And A Birthday!
HOPE YOUR HOLIDAY WAS GOOD...
Hope you all had a great Independence Day holiday. As you could tell, we turned down the old Cauldron to simmer for a few days and took some much-needed down time. But, we're back, ready to roll...
PLENTY HAPPENING WHILE WE WERE AWAY
There was plenty going on here in the land of Newport-Mesa while we were away, much of which was not too positive. I'll get to that later on another post.
NEW CITY WEB SITE!
One VERY POSITIVE piece of information waiting for us when we arrived home was the launch of the NEW, IMPROVED city web site. To reach the new site you'll have to change the URL most of us have been using for the old one. The new URL is: www.costamesaca.gov/. Hit that hot link and you'll go directly to the new site that Communication Director Bill Lobdell and his staff and consultants have been working on for many, many months. It looks like it was worth the wait.
VIDEO TOUR
As part of the presentation, Lobdell hosts a YouTube video explaining some of the many features available to us on this new site. You should take a few minutes - 6:18 to be precise - and view it. You'll find that video HERE.
KUDOS...
Congrats to Lobdell and the City for providing us with this new tool. It's going to take a little "getting used to" as we learn how to navigate through it. But, based on my very cursory trip through it today, I think we all will appreciate the ease with which we can now track down important information, schedules, rules, etc. We may not like the information we find, but that's another story for a different post.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!
By the way, over the holiday weekend A Bubbling Cauldron celebrated a birthday. On July 5th we had been in business for seven years - spreading joy to the world. Thanks to those of you who regularly read these pages and especially to those of you who attempt to enhance the discussion by well-reasoned comments on both sides of the issues.
SHIFTED GEARS, AND SITES
As some know, we began this blog using a bargain-basement hosting tool and ran with that for about 18 months. Then, in November, 2006, we started using this host, which provided the capability of posting comments, too. That, of course, has been a mixed blessing.
ONWARD AND UPWARD...
This post will be #1470 on this particular blog host. Since we shifted to this site we've had almost 700,000 page views! Whew! So, we plan to keep on chugging along here, doing the best we can to provide information and opinion on issues important to us. I'll tell you what I think about issues and you can do the same - within reason. We'll continue to welcome your participation and hope that you'll try hard to keep your comments clean and relevant.

Happy Birthday, Bubbling Cauldron!
Thank you, Geoff for your time, energy and research to provide us with the latest news in our community.
We know where to find the truth, right here!
Thanks, Karin...
Now you have another source - the new City Web Site! ;-)
Hope you had a great 4th.
Long Live the Cauldron!!!!
November is but 4 months away... keep up the good work and keep us all informed, BC!
hMissed you. Happy Birthday, lookk forward to many more years of learning and growing.
The OCGOP thanks you for all you have done. We couldn't have made the inroads we have without the Cauldron. Here's to many more years of the BC!!
Happy birthday, Bubling Cauldron! What an appropriate birthdate -- it celebrates our independence from relying on mainstream media for complete and accurate local news. Thanks for being there for us!
Valan, this is an OPINION blog, hardly complete (prevailing wage court decision mysteriously not noted even though charter is big isue here)or accurate, many slanted views and outright bias. Still a great blog!! How about CM Press as accurate news? hehe or funnier yet oc4rg?

And Fredo Fitzpatrick wonders why so many think he's a dunce. Is this the point in the movie where "Michael Corleone Riggy" takes him fishing on the lake?
Happy Birthday, Bubbling Cauldron. Geoff, thanks for your dedication, long hours and vision. Most of all, thanks for your tolerance of opposing views and juvenile taunts. There aren't many who could do this for as long as you. Or as well.
and thanks to Fitz and the other repuglicans who have endured countless juvenile taunts and unflattering cartoon pictures over the last two years. you hung in there, laughed at it , and stayed around. cm4rg would have been whining at the disrespect and talking to lawyers. Good job ocgoper's!!!!!
