Charter Might Not Be On June Ballot

IN A DITCH
On its mad dash to get Jim Righeimer's Charter placed on the June ballot the City's efforts ran off the road last week and it MIGHT result in the Charter NOT getting a place on the ballot - at least, not in June. It remains to be seen if that jalopy can be dragged back onto the pavement and get started again.

OOPS...
Due to what amounts to a clerical error in the City Clerk's office, part of the package of information required to be submitted to Neal Kelley, Orange County Registrar of Voters, didn't make it to his offices on time. My understanding is that there was some confusion about specific deadlines.

TELL IT TO THE JUDGE
This morning I spok
e with Kelly, who confirmed that the window to get the Charter on the ballot had been missed, but that further information would have to come from The City. He indicated that someone - a judge - would have to instruct him to place it on the ballot now. He also confirmed that he, by law, must follow the time line requirements.

IT'S STILL POSSIBLE, BUT...

As I hit the "publish" button on this entry City staff and attorneys are scrambling to determine the best course of action. It is my understanding that it is still possible to get the Charter on the ballot, but - as Kelley told me earlier today - it's going to take a judge to intervene on behalf of the City to make it happen.
According to Communications Director Bill Lobdell this afternoon, the City will file papers in Orange County Superior Court tomorrow, Wednesday, March 14th, requesting that the City not be precluded from placing the Charter on the ballot because of a clerical error.

'' SLOW DOWN"....
For those who believe in a supreme being, maybe this is his or her way of telling proponents of Jim Righeimer's Charter scheme to slow down and do this right. Or not...

Once again, you've scooped the local paper of record... good job!

This is a marathon, not a sprint, and I think us haters/lunatic fringe just might pull ahead when it counts.

Fight the power!

Is this the council majority's way of "running the city like a business?"

"Yes, Yoshi, you'll get the sea wall materials in a few days. Someone forgot to finish the paperwork.

What's that- you had a TSUNAMI and the reactor melted down?! Bummer!"

We all know the rules don't apply to the councilMEN isn't that right Judge Schumann.
Wonder what the legal fees will be to try and push this one through the courts.
Those silly rules, laws, and council policies just keep getting in the way darn it!

Wouldn't surprise me if this was done on purpose by someone in the City Clerks Office that doesn't agree with what has been taking place.

How good would it be if this comes back to bite all these numb-skulls in the Riggy errrrrrr I mean the ass.

The lawyers friend (that would be Jim R.) will spend the taxpayers money to further his agenda. There are no pockets deeper than John Q Public. What's another legal fee to this gang?

Phil, Barry etc... will say the city clerks office is run by the unions...
This is another chapter in the comedy that Riggy and the phab 4 are. And these FOOLS want to be regarded as heroes.

I doubt if Riggy cares too much if this makes the June ballot. November is a mere 6 months away and that means 6 more months he can demonize the working class and keep his name and pudgy mug in the media. And keep the legal meter spinning

Of course he cares. Primary ballot = heavily Republican electorate. November ballot = more mixed electorate = less likely to pass.

The only person responsible for the error is the City Clerk. That office has been in shambles since she took the position.

Oh wow! Perhaps if the pudgy faced gal from the city clerks office would get her face off the camera and actually did her job instead of trying to be a mole on the employee association, this would have never happened.

Another point for the good guys!

This wasnt done intentionally, theyre all pals with piggy and messy.

One things for sure, daddy piggy and dog messy arent happy!
