CMPD Solves Hamilton Street Murder!

ARREST MADE IN MONDAY MURDER
The Costa Mesa Police Department, in a press release a few minutes ago, announced that it had solved the murder Monday of John Kubat, a Costa Mesa resident, at 536 Hammilton Street.

 DAILY PILOT STORY
According to Jeremiah Dobruck's Daily Pilot article, posted just minutes ago HERE, officers took Christopher Ernest Leovy, 34, of Los Angeles into custody for suspicion of killing Kubat.

TRANSIENT SNAGGED IN 48 HOURS!
Leovy is a transient, living in Costa Mesa since the beginning of the year.  More infor will be forthcoming as provided by the CMPD, but I must say that solving a murder in 48 hours is pretty darn good police work.  Kudos to all involved, and thanks, one more time, for keeping us safe.

UPDATE AS OF 2:30 PM.

We have an outstanding force, albeit too small.

I understand that people are now being asked to step up and act as park patrol volunteers, and call the police when they see activity in the parks that should not be there.

#1, we pay park rangers for that. if they are short handed, then that is our councilMEN's fault. Not ours.

#2, I have called a couple of times when I see problems in the park, and have been confronted twice by the perpetrators. Fortunately it was just shouting matches, but it could have turned violent. Citizens should not be placed in this position, especially on a volunteer basis, as they wiould have no recourse for workers comp insurance to cover any medical bills they would incur if injured. This is just not something private citizens should have to be doing when we are paying someone else to do it.

Its bad enough that this regime wants to get rid of our employees, but now they want the citizens to work for free?
