COSTA MESA ADDRESSES STOLEN SIGNS
Costa Mesa Communication Director, Bill Lobdell, issued the following press release regarding stolen campaign signs.
Police respond to reports of stolen campaign signs and banners
COSTA MESA, CALIF.—Costa Mesa Police Department has launched an investigation after receiving multiple allegations of stolen and damaged campaign signs and banners within the city.
“The City and Police Department take allegations of theft seriously,” Police Chief Tom Gazsi said. “The Police Department is receiving information relative to these cases, investigating leads and proactively patrolling areas where incidents have been reported.”
In recent weeks, the Police Department has taken numerous reports of stolen and damaged political signs and banners. However, there have not been many eyewitnesses to the thefts or vandalism, and many of those who filed reports have not been able to provide descriptions of suspects or their vehicles. The estimated number of stolen or damaged banners and signs is in the hundreds.
“Should a member of the public witness a theft, please get the most accurate information possible, including a full description of persons and vehicles with license plate numbers,” Gazsi said.
If you have any information or witness a potential theft of political signs or banners, please contact the Police Department at (714) 754-5252.

CMPD IS SERIOUS!
Not only is the theft of campaign signs a crime, it's petty, juvenile and stupid! So, PLEASE, do NOT steal or deface any of the multitude of campaign signs and banners that proliferate around town during this campaign season. Our friends at the Costa Mesa Police Department are VERY serious about these crimes. Do you REALLY want to get caught stealing someones signs? Do you want THAT kind of publicity? I don't care which side of the political argument you are on....

100% Agree. If this campaign is dependent upon signs to win or lose it, we all just as well better let it go.
LEAVE THE DAMN SIGNS ALONE.
Remember folks. Signs don't vote!
