The Blathering Continues Plus A New Voice

"THE MOUTH" CONTINUES HIS ATTACKS
Well, the blathering continues over at the CM Press, in which the author takes exception with the views of the editors of the Daily Pilot and continues his disparaging tirade against any City Council candidates who are not among his chosen three.

THE PILOT GETS IT RIGHT

The Pilot got it right in their editorials today in which they support the recent council motion - led by Katrina Foley and Linda Dixon - to reject the bogus plan to designate 28 of our 30 parks as "passive" and thus effectiv
ely forbid most active recreation our families might choose to participate in at those locations.

TWICE...
They also concur with my view that former Chief John Hensley had it right when he told then-mayor
Allan Mansoor and Eric Bever that he disagreed with Mansoor's plan to cross-designate every Costa Mesa cop as an immigration screener. We've discussed this at length before.

FROTHING IN MESA NORTH
So, The Mouth From Mesa North will continue business as usual - openly attacking everyone and everything that disagrees with him.

WELCOME, CMunimPRESSed!

On a much happier note, I'm pleased to welcome a new blogger to the blogosphere. Yesterday a new blog was launched that appears to be a another venue for actual discussion of issues - one that seems willing to accept comments. I've included a link to this new blog - CMunimPRESSed - the thrust of which seems obvious by the clever choice of a name. You will find the link over on the right side of the page.

YET ANO
THER VENUE FOR DEBATE
CMunimPRESSed joins CM TRUTH and this site as a place where discussion can be held
on important issues affecting our city. CM TRUTH has had several recent posts that effectively rebut some of the misinformation being foisted off on the populace by The Mouth. The author of that site has indepth, up-close-and-personal knowledge of local gangs and graffiti and has made it a point to counter lies and distortions made on the CM Press in recent months.

THE MORE, THE MERRIER

So, welcome to the new kid on the block. We look forward to yet another voice of reason in the local blogosphere.

It is grand to see new a blog on the block. If the quantity of blogs hostile to the improvers is any indication, McEvoy, Foley, Sneen, and Bunyan are sure to win.

Kent,

There are only three seats open. I am an unabashed Sneen supporter, so he will get one of my votes. Foley is the smartest person on the dais right now and even though we may not agree on political affiliations, she will still get my second vote. The third is harder to pick. Bever is a supporter of one of my favorite causes: fireworks (sorry Geoff :) ). McEvoy is just a great guy. Bunyan... well... I am keeping an open mind.

Chris,

First, please call me Bruce.
A word of advice: be careful with your stance on fireworks. There are passions on both sides as Geoff and others will tell you.

My opinion is twofold. First, I enjoy them. Always have. Always will.

Second, in Costa Mesa they can only be sold to support youth programs that predominantly support Costa Mesa youth. There is a serious lack of funding for youth programs and this helps.

The other side of the coin. Legal fireworks mask illegal fireworks use. By that I mean it is harder to pinpoint illegal fireworks when they are lit off in the middle of the smoke and light from generated by legal ones. Legal and illegal fireworks make a lot of noise, smoke and leave behind debris. Third, illegal fireworks and even legal ones if used improperly are dangerous.

I think I have hit all the high points. Others can fill in anything I may have missed or glossed over in their opinion.

So in the end, don't make up your mind on fireworks to get my vote. You are likely to lose just as many. If I were on the City Council, as much as I support them I would keep an open mind when the subject comes up.

Thank you Bruce,

I do like that the city allows legal fireworks and we use the sales to generate money for our youth programs. This is one of the unique qualities our city has. On my site I give my position "I will never vote to ban them". Thank you for the heads up on giving my position on this passionate issue, I do want people to know where I stand on issues.

The other side of the coin does have valid points, no denying that and I believe that you hit on most of the major concerns. I just believe that the pros outweigh the cons.

I do not intend to alter my position to get your support on this issue or other issues but am extremely interested in and appreciate having open dialogues with opposing viewpoints. I believe that fireworks do add to our city (even with the negative aspects considered).

Chris
