Monahan To Step Down As Mayor!

GARY BAILS OUT AS MAYOR
In a very brief
press release today, Costa Mesa Mayor Gary Monahan announced that, effective Tuesday, March 13, 2012 he will step down as mayor due to "increased family and business commitments".

SMART MONEY IS ON RIGHEIMER - ARRGGGHHH

The Costa M
esa City Council will hold a Special Council meeting at 4:30 p.m., preceding the scheduled Study Session, at which time a new mayor will be selected. It's possible that, since Mayor Pro Tem Jim Righeimer might be chosen, then a new Mayor Pro Tem may also be selected. Any body betting against a Righeimer/Mensinger duo?

It's time to push the charter, plus the anniversary of Huy Pham's death is in a couple of weeks.

Das Riggmarshal needs everyone to obey.

I think you mentioned, Pot Stirrer, that he hasn't been attending sometimes lately and isn't looking good when he does. Could be a medical issue. And the anniversity of Huy's death is 8 days away, my guess is he doesn't want to be near that and just try to salvage his business on the "most important day of his life".

That's news? I thought he abdicated the throne the day Riggy appeared on the scene.

Colin, you may be correct. And, Mike M., you ARE correct. :-)

Does that mean we have to pay for a new badge for Riggy?

It's about time the midget skirt wearing, no soul bearing, brick throwing, sorry excuse of a mayor resigned. He should have resigned last year when she showed his true colors when he agreed with the illegal scam to outsource the entire city staff and issued 213 pink slips without regard.

Residents like me will argue that the entire council has blood on their hands for Huy Pham's death immediately after being called in to receive his pink slip.

What has Monahan done but turn his back on his employees. Let's not forget he voted for increased pension just a few years ago. Yet when instructed by the OCGOP to back the carpetbagger Pigheimer, he did what he was told.

He knew what he did was wrong. The entire council (excluding Leece) knows what they're doing is wrong, illegal and costing us residents a ton of money. But they don't care. It's all about money and getting ahead.

Johnny Cochran died shortly after defending OJ. Johnny knew he was guilty as sin, yet he "did his job". How does a person live with themselves? The answer is they can't. Their conscience will eventually eat their bodies away and they'll develop some disease to rid of their evilness from this world.

Just like Johnny, the entire council, Hatch, the entire 5th floor and their supporters are all guilty as sin for supporting Pigheimer and his illegal outsourcing scam.

In the end, it will catch up to them.

Goodbye slimeball Monahan and good riddance!

He's not leaving as a councilmember, just as mayor. Riggy needs that title to run for Assembly.

They will go after the seats on the Sanitary District and water boards. Thats why Fitzy is putting up a fight. Defeat the charter, but don't lose track of the big picture.

Maybe he was ordered by Das Riggmarshal to stand down.

Wow, imagine a Mayor that chides his own citizens; it's Costa Mesa... doesn't surprise me.

Again, this City is such a joke!

It's going to be Eric Beaver.

You know how I know?

Because Pot Belly thinks it is Riggy.

Pot Stinkers Council Hate clouds his vision.

Every major call in last couple years OS opposite of what Captain Kangaroo thinks.

Glad he & the handful of others think Charter will not pass. Shoe in.

Well I hope I'm not about the medical, I would hate to see him or his family have problems like that. :( Not a supporter of the man, I just think no one should be hurt or have to suffer. Do you think this also might benefit Riggy's push for the charter here in the home strech ? Mayor controls the meeting agenda from what I have seen, so I would expect to see some power plays by shuffling the schedule around, cutting off speakers and severly limiting time, and/or extending extra time to people who support his position.

Let's make sure that those jewel encrusted badges get traded to the proper people, so we the taxpayers don't have to buy any more.

@ Hater Says What -

As such a big supporter of the Council, isn't it about time you learned to spell it correctly? It's B-E-V-E-R...no A... knucklehead. Show a little respect to your worthless idols.

I'm sure this was planned many months ago. Just another way to keep Riggys name and porky face in the media. Any publicity is good and free publicity is better. (free for Riggy since we are all funding it with tax dollars)

Huy's anniversary is in a few days. Monahan doesnt want to deal with it again, as he will be busy at his restaurant. Slam dunk its Righeimer...and MPT will be the appointed Mensinger -he needs a title in order to actually run for office. What happened Gary? Did you finally get a back bone or is this still playing into the gruesome twosome?

First, Johnny Cochran died in 2005, a full decade after the OJ trial. And only a union could blame a City Council when an employee, who was in the past found sleeping on the job, jumps off a building while high on coke.

I think Wendy should be Mayor. She is the only one who listens. We can't let change or growth occur. Let's talk about a Recall. Cancel the layoffs. No on the charter. I want it just like it was in the 1970's

Is the Mayor's position more time consuming and labor intensive than any other council seat? I would suspect not, but I cold be wrong. That said, if he has to step out of that position for personal matters, how can we expect we will get he attention we deserve out of him as a councilman should he get re-elected?

If he doesn't have time now, he won't have time later and should not run again. Say NO ti incumbents people. An electorate ignorant of the facts gets he government they deserve.
